History
2017: Acquisition by MTS company
In July the MTS company announced acquisition of 100% of stocks of the regional telecom operator "Cellular communication of Bashkortostan" at Bashinformsvyaz, subsidiary company of Rostelecom, for 300 million rubles, including a net debt.[1]
As expect in MTS, purchase of an asset will allow the company to expand presence in the Republic of Bashkortostan and to receive an additional frequency resource, including two bands on 15 MHz in the range of 2100 MHz and also two bands on 4.4 MHz in the range of 450 MHz.
Acquisition at the reasonable price of a significant frequency resource in Bashkortostan entering ten the largest telecom markets in regions of Russia completely corresponds to our strategy for strengthening of regional presence of MTS. Closing the transaction, we double a frequency resource in the range of 2100 MHZ in Bashkortostan for expansion of capacity and increase in data transfer rate of 3G networks. In the long term these frequencies will be used for development of LTE networks" — the vice president of MTS for the equipment and IT Andrey Ushatsky noted |
Earlier MTS got all necessary corporate approvals on the transaction.
2014: Commissioning of base stations of UMTS
In 2014 the operator put two base stations of UMTS into operation, but by the end of 2016 commercial operation of UMTS network was not performed.
2011: The license for services in the UMTS standard
In 2011 the CoB obtained the license (it was prolonged in November, 2016) for rendering services in the UMTS (3G) standard in the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan.[2]
1993: Education
The operator of CoB was formed in December, 1993 and developed network of mobile communication of the CDMA standard in the territory of Bashkortostan.
