2019: RDIF invested in AST

On November 9, 2019 the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced investment into AST. The volume of a round of financing is not reported.

AST intends to use the raised funds for new researches and production of industrial samples of the equipment.

The robot will allow to reduce the cost of surgeries approximately five times in comparison with foreign analogs thanks to the advanced solutions and compactness of construction of the Russian sample. Production of pilot prototypes will be organized on domestic enterprises.

It is expected that the quality of robotic surgery considerably will increase due to implementation of digital applications, including artificial intelligence and also remote control systems the robot.

AST hopes to occupy up to 50% of the domestic market in such types of medical services as abdominal, gynecologic and urological surgery. The issue of turning on of the Russian robot in the compulsory health insurance system and replacements of a part of laparoscopic transactions with robotic surgery is actively handled. In plans of the company entry into the markets of China, other countries of Asia and also supply of equipment to the Middle East and to Europe.
