Amazon, Apple and Google together with Zigbee Alliance group announced the joint initiative which received the name Connected Home over IP

Connected Home over IP should solve this problem. If the project achieves the goal, producers will have an opportunity to use the uniform networking standard compatible to all leading intelligent systems and also with any other voice services.

The Connected Home over IP standard will use the existing protocols, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy. Besides, in the project the technologies developed by Amazon, Apple and Google such as protocol of communication of Weave devices will be used. The working group will create the standard open source for development and deployment of the new unified protocol of communication.

For a start the working group will be engaged in those devices for the smart house which are connected with security, for example, smoke detectors, sockets and smart locks. It is expected that the original project of the standard will be submitted at the end of 2020, but it is still unknown when in the market there are first unified devices.[1]
