2024: Foundation Creation

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Talent and Success Educational Fund have created a joint venture fund Sirius Innovations with a capital of ₽1 billion. This became known in November 2024. The investment will be aimed at supporting startups of graduates of educational programs of the Sirius Center.

According to Izvestia, the financing of the fund is divided equally: Talent and Success contributed ₽500 million and ₽500 million was provided by the Russian venture capital company, which is part of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

RDIF launches ₽1 billion Sirius Innovation venture fund

RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriyev said projects supported by the fund should be focused on cooperation with large corporations and aimed at achieving leadership positions in their segments in the global market.

Technology companies occupy more than 30% of the investment portfolio of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The Foundation is actively working to attract young scientists to research activities and introduce scientific developments into the practical plane through the creation of startups.

The development strategy of the educational center Sirius"" for the next ten years is being discussed within the framework of the Board of Trustees. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms for attracting talented youth Russia to innovative projects.

As an example of the successful implementation of scientific developments, Kirill Dmitriyev cited the creation of the Sputnik vaccine, which has received international recognition. The new venture capital fund plans to support projects of similar scale and significance.

Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, stressed the importance of supporting young scientists to solve Russia's strategic tasks, in particular, in the development of the Northern Sea Route.[1]
