2025: Announcement of the launch of the first mass production of power supplies in the Russian Federation based on domestic electronics
The Element Group of Companies, specializing in the development and production of microelectronics, in April 2025 announced plans to launch mass production of power supplies for server and telecommunications equipment based on the Russian electronic component base (ECB) by the end of 2025. The project will be the first serial production of such power supplies in Russia using domestic components.
Power supplies are being developed by Element-Technology, a group member. Production will be located in the Moscow region, and the design capacity is scheduled for 2027. The company plans to produce up to 100,000 power supplies annually with a variety of power metrics: 800, 1200 and 1600 watts.
According to the representative of "Element," units with a capacity of up to 1200 W are intended for general-purpose server equipment, while 1600 W devices are necessary to ensure the operation of high-performance equipment used in the analysis and processing of big data, as well as for the functioning of artificial intelligence systems.
According to market estimates given by the group of companies, the market volume of domestic server and telecommunications equipment is 150 000-170 000 units per year. The representative of "Element" also announced the presence of confirmed demand for products from a large Russian manufacturer of server equipment, without specifying which company is in question.
An independent analyst, author of the Telegram channel RUSmicro Aleksei Boyko noted that earlier in Russia no one took up a comprehensive solution to the problem, which includes serial production, component localization and unification. According to him, the use of exclusively domestic components significantly increases the cost of the product and leads to a high cost in the absence of mass demand, as a result of which the manufacturer is forced to focus exclusively on government orders.[1]
