2022: The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation creates a center for information security and import substitution of software

On June 22, 2022, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced the creation of a subordinate Center for Information Security and Import Substitution of Software based on the Federal State Budgetary Institution "TsNIIOIZ."

The center is being created as part of the implementation of the concept of information security in the healthcare sector. It was approved on March 10, 2022 by the presidium of the government commission on digital development, the use of information technologies to improve the quality of life and business conditions.

It is noted that the document is aimed at increasing the efficiency of protecting information processed by medical information systems, including personal data and medical information, as well as ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure facilities in the Russian Federation in the healthcare sector.

The concept defines the directions of development of the information security system. It also contains draft solutions for implementing information protection measures, architecture and draft solutions for building a system for responding to computer attacks in healthcare information systems.

According to the document, the digitalization of healthcare systematically leads to the continuous development of services and services in the field of healthcare provided in electronic form, as well as to a constant increase in the complexity of applied IT solutions and technologies and a significant increase in the number of IT systems integrated into a single digital corporation in the field of healthcare. By June 2022, federal projects are underway to develop specialized vertically integrated medical IT systems for individual profiles of medical care.
