2023: Creation of a drone certification unit

As of March 23, 2023, the Russian Aviation Register received seven applications for certification of the ALS type, one of which is BAS-200. This type of ALS, developed by the NTS named after M.L. Mile and N.I. Kamova, successfully passed all stages of the certification work program within the framework of the declared expected operating conditions and received a certificate from the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The experience gained by the Aviation Register of Russia and the NCV named after M.L. Mile and N.I. Kamova during type BAS-200 certification will be used for the further introduction of domestic unmanned vehicles into the business processes of the Russian economy, the Federal Air Transport Agency noted.

Earlier, the Russian Aviation Register used a risk-oriented approach recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization based on the requirements for their airworthiness, based on the airworthiness standards of manned aircraft, to certify ALS. The Russian Air Register has prepared the airworthiness standards for unmanned aircraft systems of the aircraft and helicopter type, which have been put into effect by the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The work on certification of unmanned aircraft systems in order to form a specialized certification system for unmanned aircraft systems, their components, components for such systems, licensing the development and production of these systems, components, products is carried out in accordance with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.^[1]
