2022: Liquidation of the fund

On December 26, 2022, information appeared on the portal of the Monotown Development Fund (Моногорода.РФ) that a decision had been made to liquidate a non-profit organization.[1]

The Monotown Development Fund was engaged in supporting monotowns. In connection with the reform of development institutions, launched in 2020, by decision of the Government of the Russian Federation Моногорода.РФ it is subject to liquidation. The fund's project portfolio, as well as all the functions of the organization, have moved to ВЭБ.РФ.

2019: Agreement with Wildberries to jointly promote goods from single-industry towns

Моногорода.РФ and Russian online retailer Wildberries signed a cooperation agreement on August 28, 2019. Now products from single-industry towns can be presented on the electronic trading platform of the online retailer under the# MadeVmono brand. The corresponding document was signed by the general director of the Monotown Development Fund Irina Makieva and the general director of Wildberries Tatyana Bakalchuk.

The impetus for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in single-industry towns, the creation of jobs and the growth of production may be the expansion of sales of local manufacturers in the e-commerce segment. Wildberries is a Russian company, so we strive to develop our cooperation with domestic entrepreneurs, provide them with the necessary support for online trading. The first step was to reduce the commission for partners from 38% to 19% in March 2019. Since July 2019, we have launched the E-Commerce Expertise Centers, which provide comprehensive consulting support to suppliers, "said Tatyana Bakalchuk, CEO of Wildberries.

An online platform for promoting goods is now available to businesses from single-industry towns. On the Wildberries website, you can buy a tumbler from the single-industry town of Kotovsk and cup holders from Kolchugino. But there may be more products from single-industry towns, together with Wildberries we will develop this direction, - said Irina Makieva.

She added that single-industry towns can also become sites for housing Wildberries logistics centers:

We will actively offer single-industry towns to accommodate the company's distribution complexes. For cities, these are new jobs, for an investor - various preferential conditions. The first Wildberries logistics center in a single-industry town is already being built in Zelenodolsk.

Note that the first stage of the center in Zelenodolsk of the Republic of Tatarstan will be built in 2020. After the complete completion of construction, its total area will be 100 thousand square meters. The estimated cost of the project is 5 billion rubles, about 5 thousand jobs will be created at the enterprise.

2018: CEO - Irina Makieva

Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairman of Vnesheconombank, has been appointed General Director of the non-profit organization Fund for the Development of Single-Industry Towns. The corresponding decision of the supervisory board of the fund, adopted at a meeting on July 30, 2018, was reported in the organization's release issued on Tuesday, July 31.

Before Makieva, Ilya Krivogov was the general director of the fund. The Supervisory Board terminated the powers of the top manager in connection with his transfer to another job.[2]

The Single-Industry Towns Development Fund carries out its activities to ensure the development of Russian single-industry towns by diversifying their economies, creating new jobs and attracting investments. In his field of vision, 319 single-industry towns, where he is actively working to co-finance the costs of regions and municipalities for infrastructure development, participates in investment projects, creates and trains management teams.

2014: Establishment of the organization

The non-profit organization "Fund for the Development of Single-Industry Towns" was established by Vnesheconombank in October 2014. The Fund's work is aimed at creating conditions for creating new jobs that are not related to the city-forming enterprise, and attracting investments in single-industry towns through the implementation of infrastructure and investment projects. The Fund co-finances the expenses of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and municipalities during the construction or reconstruction of infrastructure facilities necessary for new investment projects, participates in financing investment projects, performs the functions of a project office for the development of single-industry towns, forms teams managing projects for the development of single-industry towns to stabilize their socio-demographic and economic situation. The activities of the Fund are regulated by the rules for the provision of subsidies from the federal budget, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 11, 2014 No. 1186.
