The Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) is an executive body acting to provide public services and manage state property in the field of maritime and river transport. It is part of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.

The main functions in the established field of activity of Rosmorrechflot:

  • navigational support for navigation of ships in the waters of ports, on the routes of the Northern Sea Route and on inland waterways,
  • dispatching control of the movement of ships along internal routes,
  • registration of sailor's ID cards (ULM) and sea books (MK),
  • creation of the Global Maritime Communications System.
  • Search and rescue, rescue of people at sea.

History

2024: Andrey Tarasenko's appointment as head

At the end of March 2024, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree appointing Andrei Tarasenko as the new head of Rosmorrechflot. In this position, he replaced Zakhary Dzhioev, who, according to the press service of the Cabinet, resigned of his own free will. Dzhioev headed the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport from August 30, 2022. Read more here.
