History
2024
Start-up of chip assembly in metal polymer cases
In September 2024, a new production line for the housing of microcircuits in metal polymer cases was launched in Voronezh. Investments in the project amounted to ₽790 million, which made it possible to create capacity for the production of up to 10 million units of products per year.
According to the Industrial Development Fund (FRP), the new line was launched on the basis of the Scientific Research Institute of Electronic Technology "(NIIET), which is part of the Element group of companies. A significant part of the financing - ₽616 million - was provided by the FRP in the form of a preferential loan under the "Component Products" program.
InThe new production is focused on the production of microcontrollers of its own design by NIIET, in particular, the ultra-low-consumption microcontroller K1921VG015. This chip will find application in medical equipment, household gas and electricity meters, as well as in production automation systems.
The line allows assembly of a wide range of electronic components in the most popular metal polymer housings of the QFP, QFN, SOT, SOIC and TO types. Among the products are microcontrollers, microprocessors, power converters, interface integrated circuits, power amplification modules, silicon and nitride-gallium microwave transistors.
Ilya Ivantsov, President of Element PJSC, stressed that the launch of the new line is part of a large-scale investment program of the group of companies. This will ensure the production of an electronic component base in more affordable metal polymer cases, which will make the products competitive in various sectors of the consumer sector.
Pavel Kutsko, General Director of NIIET JSC, noted that the creation of its own platform for assembling components in plastic cases is a priority project for the enterprise. At the first stage, it is planned to load the production with an assembly of K1921VG015 microcontrollers, and in the future - to scale the site to provide component assembly services to other enterprises.[1]
Investment of 5.5 billion rubles in the only production of transistors based on gallium nitride in the Russian Federation
The Research Institute of Electronic Technology (NIIET), located in, Voronezh invests 5.5 billion rubles in the only Russia gallium nitride transistors in production. This became known in September 2024. This enterprise, which is part of the group of companies ("Item" joint venture AFK Sistema and state corporations ""), Rostec plans to produce up to 5.4 thousand plates per year, which will create competitive products both in the domestic and international markets.
According to Kommersant, the new NIIET project is aimed at localizing the full production cycle of power devices based on wide-band semiconductor technologies. A feature of these transistors is the use of gallium nitride heterostructures on silicon with a diameter of 200 mm. The main product will be power microwave GaN NEMT transistors, which are distinguished by high electron mobility and are capable of operating at higher frequencies compared to silicon analogs. According to Pavel Kutsko, Director General of NIIET, this is an ambitious project that will allow the institute to take a leading position in this technological field.
NIIET already has the necessary competencies in the production of such devices at other enterprises of the Element group, and the new production in Voronezh will be the first in Russia. It is expected that the project will be implemented by 2025, and the enterprise plans to reach its design capacity within the next three years.
The production of gallium nitride transistors opens up wide prospects for power electronics, in particular for use in high-frequency devices and communication systems. As part of the project, it is planned to install additional equipment for the production of microcontrollers, power converters and monolithic integrated circuits, which will allow NIIET to significantly expand its capabilities and production volumes.[2]
2023: Compliance with GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019
In March 2023, the test center of NIIET JSC passed the procedure for assessing competence (accreditation) for a new period for compliance with the requirements of GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019, ES RD 005-2020, ES RD 014-2020. Based on the results of the certification, a new competence certificate was obtained. The company announced this on April 11, 2023.
Pavel Parmon, Quality Director, noted that within the framework of the current procedure for assessing competence (accreditation), as well as during previous inspections, experts noted high professionalism and well-coordinated work of the test center employees.
2021: Entering the Automotive Chip Development Market
In July 2021, the Research Institute of Electronic Technology announced the entry into the market of chip development for the automotive industry. To do this, the institution received an appropriate certificate for compliance of products with international quality standards, which applies to microcontrollers. At the same time, certification of other products is planned in the future.
As noted by the commercial director of the institute, Vladimir Maleev, the development of radio electronics for vehicles was carried out by the design center of NIIET JSC. According to him, a number of products have a competitive price even in comparison with imported counterparts.
At the initial stage, it is planned to supply microcircuits for the Russian automotive industry, and in 2022 it is possible to enter the foreign market. First of all, we are talking about China and Taiwan.
The auto electronics market is one of the fastest growing in microelectronics (average growth at 13.4% per year), while the industry does not require ultra-technological (for the Russian manufacturer) norms of 14 and 7 nm. Existing consumers prefer to use chips at 90 and 180 nm, - said Vladimir Maleev, whose words are quoted by the press service of the NIIET. |
It is noted that the project to enter the automotive chip development market is being implemented as part of the strategy for the development of the electronic industry of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030.
The Research Institute of Electronic Technology begins to deal with automotive chips during their acute shortage caused by the consequences of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Because of this shortage, automakers are forced to completely or partially reduce the work of enterprises. The Ministry of Industry and Trade promised to solve the problem of deficit by the end of the summer of 2021. To speed up the supply of microcircuits for cars, the department connected Russian trade missions abroad.[3]
2020: Appointment of Pavel Kutsko as CEO
By the decision of the Board of Directors of the Element Group of Companies, Pavel Pavlovich Kutsko was appointed General Director of the Research Institute of Electronic Technology JSC (NIIET JSC). He will deal with the strategic development of the enterprise: accelerating the growth rate of the main financial and production indicators of the enterprise, as well as strengthening the scientific block. About this GC "Element" reported on June 19, 2020. Read more here.
2019: NIIET JSC will be headed by Gulnara Khasyanova, who will then be replaced by Pavel Kutsko
On December 26, 2019, TAdviser became aware that a change of leadership took place at the Research Institute of Electronic Technology JSC (NIIET JSC). For the period of completion of integration processes and formal procedures when changing the top management of NIIET JSC, the company will be headed by Gulnara Khasyanova, who is also the General Director of Micron PJSC. Subsequently, Pavel Kutsko, who previously headed the FSUE MNIIRIP, the leading research and testing organization of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in the field of electronic component base (ECB), will take over as Director General of NIIET JSC.
The main strategic tasks of JSC NIIET management will be: acceleration of growth rates of the main financial and production indicators of the enterprise, and further development of the scientific unit.
Roman Fedorov, who held the position of interim general director of the enterprise, will continue to work in the Element Group of Companies (shareholder of NIIET JSC), where he will oversee the development of new business areas.
According to representatives of NIIET, the change of leadership is associated with the need to build an effective and transparent management structure of the organization while maintaining the current dynamics of the implementation of advanced OCD and tasks to increase the share of export products.
The main focus of NIIET JSC will be aimed at the further development of the design center with an already strong development school. The company's management plans to launch a number of developments in the near future, which will become part of innovative public and private projects in the field of telecommunications and the digital economy.
