LLC RN-Komsomolsk Refinery is located in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Khabarovsk Territory) and has been part of the vertically integrated structure of Rosneft since its inception. Construction of the plant began in 1938 and it was commissioned in 1942.
The design capacity of the refinery is 8 million tons of oil per year. The plant processes oil produced by the Company on Sakhalin Island and supplied to the enterprise through the Okha-Komsomolsk-on-Amur oil pipeline, as well as raw materials supplied through the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil trunk pipeline.
The nomenclature of products of the Komsomolsk oil refinery - more than 20 items, including automobile gasoline and diesel fuel of ecological class K5, marine fuels. The product line is constantly expanding. In 2018, the company organized the production of environmental marine fuel of the RMD-80 brand, and in 2019 - the RMLS-40 brand.
Komsomolsk refinery is one of the main suppliers of petroleum products to the Far East market. Deliveries are carried out through RN-Vostoknefteprodukt, which manages the Rosneft gas station network in the region.
LLC RN-Komsomolsk Refinery is gradually implementing a large-scale program for the modernization of production and reconstruction of existing technological plants. The reconstruction of the catalytic reforming unit was completed, within the framework of which a pre-fractionation unit for reforming raw materials with a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year was introduced. The implementation of this project made it possible to switch to the production of automobile gasolines corresponding to the ecological class of K5. A base for storage and shipment of liquefied gases with a capacity of 2.4 thousand cubic meters was also put into operation. m.
As part of the implementation of the digital plant program in 2018, the control room of the production control center was equipped with advanced digital equipment, which made it possible to automate control over the operating parameters of the main technological plants of the enterprise: two primary oil processing plants, distillate hydrotreatment, sulfur production plants. In 2019, the process control system of the primary processing plant was modernized - ELOU-AVT-3, which ensured the inclusion of one of the most significant facilities in the digital plant system being implemented at KNPZ. The next stage of digitalization will be the unification of adjacent technological installations into complexes with a single control center. This will make it possible to make operational decisions, taking into account the technical parameters of the processes and economic indicators of production, as well as increase the accuracy of planning.
The implementation of the project for the construction of a hydrocracking complex at LLC RN-Komsomolsky Refinery is important for providing petroleum products to the Far Eastern Federal District. Its launch will increase the depth of oil refining by up to 92%, as well as provide the domestic market with an additional volume of high-class motor fuels. For the region - this is the creation of new jobs, the expansion of the tax base and the development of infrastructure.

2024: Using VR simulators to train staff at refineries
Rosneft began using Russian VR simulators to train personnel at the Komsomolsk Oil Refinery (refinery). The press service of the oil company announced this in early March 2024.
Komsomolsk refinery received domestic virtual reality devices, which are used to train workers in the operation of electrical equipment. Rosneft noted that the implementation of this innovative project will help the company improve the quality of professional training of specialists.
When introducing the VR system at the refinery, the developers of the details "drew" two electrical installations of the enterprise, which provide energy to the main production shops. Using a virtual reality helmet, a plant employee can "move" from the classroom to any part of the installation to perform the necessary operations using joysticks. With the help of new devices, the operational personnel of the workshop works out all actions in practice to automatism, while the probability of deviations from the technological mode of real equipment is excluded. The training task can be performed alone, in pairs, as well as with the participation of a mentor. Training programs vary in difficulty and are selected individually for internships or advanced training.
According to Rosneft, by the beginning of March 2024, VR simulators are operated in text format, but they have already shown high efficiency in improving the skills of specialists. Within the framework of this project, digital models of two substations were created, but in the future all the plant's electrical installations will appear in virtual reality. The company added that IT solutions help make decisions faster throughout the production chain, increasing transparency and efficiency of process management.[1]
