History

2024: "Reservugol" bought Kemerovo "Sibenergougol"

Reservugol completed the acquisition of Kemerovo Sibenergogol from MelTEK. In June 2024, the deal received the approval of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, which considered the petition of Reservugol to acquire a 100% stake in Sibenergoule.

According to Kommersant, Sibenergougol is engaged in the extraction of anthracite and T-brand coal at the Bungursky Yuzhny site. The company's production capacity is about 2 million tons of coal per year, most of which is exported to China, Vietnam and South Korea. The company plans to increase production to 3 million tons of coal per year. Earlier, Sibenergougol was part of the SDS holding and was acquired by MelTEK in 2020.

"Reserve" completed the acquisition of Kemerovo "Sibenergoule"

According to Kommersant, MelTEK is associated with the Yuzhuralzoloto group of Konstantin Strukov. The beneficiaries of MelTEK are Evgenia Kuznetsova and Natalya Zarubina, who are associated with the Strukov family by the media. The company's reports mention the receipt of a loan from Yuzhuralzoloto, but there were no comments from both companies.

As the newspaper notes, "Reservugl" owns 50% of the Kemerovo LLC "Bungursky-Severny open pit," the capacity of which is also 2 million tons of T-brand coal per year. The owner of Reservugol in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities is Svetlana Bogatyreva, who also owns a stake in Yakutskoye Frac LLC, which is engaged in exploration and mining of gold at the Piniginsky deposit in Yakutia.

According to Maxim Khudalov, chief strategist of the investment company Vector X, the purchase of Sibenergoule may be beneficial for Reservugol in the event of a recovery in world prices for thermal coal. Khudalov notes that in the current conditions, a coal mine with good grades of coal, such as A and T, can be unprofitable due to the complexity of logistics and the production of wagons for transporting coal eastward.[1]
