Data breach of tens of thousands of customers
A file allegedly containing data from clients of the KDL clinical diagnostic laboratory network got into open access. This was announced at the end of July 2023 by the Telegram channel "Information Leaks."
According to him, the file contains about 85.4 thousand phone numbers and 43.5 thousand email addresses. There are names (sometimes full names), dates of birth, and some texts of clients' requests to the laboratory from September 30, 2021 to March 22, 2023 are also contained.
On July 30, 2023, KDL announced that hackers had attacked the company's website. To avoid customer data leaks, the company temporarily disabled some of the site's features. KDL experts assured that the passport data of customers was not affected. KDL clarified that the company's website was subjected to a hacker attack "followed by information broadcast by cybercriminals about the leakage of personal data." To prevent the leak, the company decided to temporarily disable some site functions and internal services for a while, and the company's specialists began working on restoring services over the network.

2022: Medskan Group acquires KDL network of laboratories
At the end of October 2022, it was announced the sale of the KDL laboratory network to the Medskan medical holding. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. The general director of Infoline Analytics, Mikhail Burmistrov, estimated it at 15 billion rubles. A Vedomosti source close to one of the parties to the negotiations named the amount at 19-20 billion rubles.
According to the general director of KDL Yuri Leonov, KDL traffic in 2022 was supposed to be 1.5 million patients. With a conversion of 2%, the network, according to him, will be able to additionally attract more than 30 thousand patients for the clinics of the new medical operator, he said. The Medskan-KDL group also plans to participate in public-private programs and develop the compulsory medical insurance direction, Leonov added.
The combined company has good prospects: judging by the situation in Russian healthcare, the availability of polyclinic medical care is unlikely to grow, so people will be forced to contact private clinics, said Sergei Shulyak, director of the DSM Group analytical company, in an interview with Vedomosti.
