PJSC Verkhnechonskneftegaz is an oil and gas production company. It serves one of the largest hydrocarbon fields in Eastern Siberia. Up to 6.5 million tons of oil are produced annually, up to 70 new wells are put into operation.

The company was established in April 2002. The main activity is oil exploration, development and production in the territory of the Verkhnechonsky oil and gas condensate field, which is located in the Katangsky district of the Irkutsk region, 1100 km northeast of Irkutsk.

Regional geophysical work on the territory where the field is located was carried out from 1956 to 1976. The project was started in 1977. Five years later, as a result of seismic surveys, the contour of the structure was significantly expanded. Exploration drilling at the field was started in 1979, exploration was carried out from 1983 to 1993. During the exploration period, 100 wells were drilled.

History

2024: Use of robotic manipulators on drilling rigs

The Verkhnechonskneftegaz company, which is part of the Rosneft oil and gas production complex, has equipped all echelon-type drilling rigs at the Verkhnechonsky and Severo-Danilovsky fields with robotic equipment of domestic production. The introduction of a new technology that made it possible to halve the time of operations was announced on November 26, 2024.

According to the press service of Rosneft, the Russian robot manipulator connects the drill pipes in 31 seconds, which is twice as fast as previous indicators. The economic impact of the development is ₽1,5 million for each well.

Rosneft began to use Russian robotic manipulators on drilling platforms, which made it possible to double the production speed

At the Verkhnechonskoye field, where the average length of producing wells reaches 3.5 km, 145 pipe connections and disconnections are required. The introduction of robotic equipment made it possible to reduce the process duration by 10 hours.

The robot is controlled remotely: the driller sets parameters using the remote control and brings the keys to the pipe connection, after which the manipulator automatically makes a make-up. Both the software and the robot itself are developed by Russian specialists.

Verkhnechonskneftegaz is developing one of the largest fields in Eastern Siberia, located in the Katangsky district of the Irkutsk region. The company also acts as an operator of work on Rosneft license areas in the Irkutsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The introduction of modern technologies and rational production solutions is part of Rosneft's strategy to increase operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.

The use of robotic equipment on drilling rigs allows not only to speed up the production process, but also to improve the safety of production by automating complex technological operations.[1]
