Infrastructure "Outpost" was seriously attacked

As a precaution, the company asks to update the identity and recommends changing the passwords on all accounts used by Outpost employees in the customer infrastructure.

The company also recalled that in the context of a serious information war, the main source of official information is its social networks and website, and asked not to believe the rumors spread on other sites. "As usual, we remind you, you can never follow the lead of cybercriminals!," Added to "Outpost."

The Ukrainian hacker group Cyber.Anarchy.Squad (C.A.S) claimed responsibility for the attack. Its Telegram channel, which published screenshots related to the attack, says that hackers encrypted 405 virtual machines running\and LinuxWindows "most of the physical stations of employees" "Outpost." The "most valuable data" of more than 390 GB was stolen and more than 60 TB of data destroyed, the group claims.

On Monday, July 29, at the time of publication of the material, Avanpost was unable to answer TAdviser's questions about the hacker attack and its consequences. The company has not yet released new messages related to the attack in its public information channels at this point.

2022: Alina Kurakina's appointment as CEO

2020

New co-owner - Sergey Matsotsky

In September 2020, the company "Avanpost" has a new co-owner - a share of 27.2% received the structure "Avanpost Holding," owned by GS INVEST"." Sergey Matsotsky

GS INVEST itself is at the stage of attracting investments from Gazprombank. A source familiar with the company says Matsotsky plans to acquire several companies from different sectors of the IT market.

Explaining to TAdviser his interest in Avanpost, Sergiy Matsotsky noted that it is a very good company with very important products. He called a timely deal to acquire a stake in the company, linking this to the growing demand in the market for everything related to the automation of user access to information systems.

According to Matsotsky, with the advent of a new co-owner, Avanpost will continue to develop its products so that they become even better. He chose not to disclose the commercial details of the deal.

"Outpost" completed 2019 with a record (according to the Federal Tax Service from the base of Kontur. Fokus) revenue of 212.6 million rubles. Compared to 2018, it increased by 112%.

Outpost and OTR entered into a partnership agreement

In September 2020, Outpost announced a partnership agreement with system integrator OTR, which can now implement solutions based on the Avanpost line of software products (IDM, PKI, FAM and Web SSO) for access management and provide technical support.

Cooperation of companies is already developing in practice - several large joint projects are at the stage of implementation, the companies noted.

OTR CEO Dmitry Gusev said he is seeing a significant increase in demand for authentication and access control solutions among the largest commercial customers and government agencies.

2018

Avanpost, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of its activities, intends to enter the markets of non-CIS countries. This was told by the general director and co-owner of the company Konusov[1] of[2]

It is assumed that the organization will begin to work in two significantly different regions at once. One of them - the Arab countries - has already been determined, the other will be Southeast Asia or Latin America. Specific states were planned to be identified by the end of 2018.

Commenting on the choice in favor of the Arab countries, Konusov notes the already existing interest in them from local companies, as well as the favorable specifics of this region. "Geographically, they're not that far away; American and European products dislike as much as we do. Recently, especially. And there are no local developments there, "he argues.

In the new markets, Avanpost will not have a "clear Russian trace": the company does not plan to use its brand and will not create its own representative offices. All activities will be carried out through local strategic partners. "They will be offered very favorable conditions and provided with the necessary technological support so that in the first years they can, without straining, just earn money, without developing their own competencies," says Konusov.

The specific amounts of financing for going abroad, according to Konusov, will become clear when the markets and partners are determined. "This year we are ready to allocate up to $1 million for this - up to 50-60 million rubles," he adds. From his point of view, if the company created its own local offices, this money would be not enough, but taking into account the above model, Conus considers this amount of investments adequate.

2017

The turnover of "Outpost," according to its own data, increased by 45% and exceeded 300 million rubles. At the same time, the number of personnel increased by 27%. The company has expanded the reach of industries and made their shares more aligned. It presents the public sector and commercial structures: banks and insurance companies, fuel and energy complex, retail, logistics enterprises, industry, telecom.

By the beginning of 2018, the relative importance of elements of the Avanpost product line was distributed as follows: IDM (40%), PKI (30%), Web SSO (20%) and classic SSO - 10%. At the same time, the main profit generators today are IDM and PKI, and the most promising growth points are IDM and Web SSO.

2014

According to Andrey Konusov, CEO of Avanpost, about 40% of the Russian IdM market belongs to Oracle, about 30% to Avanpost, 20% to IBM and 10% to other companies, Russian and foreign. The volume of the IdM market for the year increased by less than 10%, but two multidirectional trends are hidden behind this indicator. Midsize companies have reduced their costs by 80%, as they are among the first to cut IT costs during the crisis; sales to corporations increased by 50%.

Own growth for the year in "Outpost" is determined at 10-15%. (All given estimates are made in rubles, due to the instability of the domestic currency, these estimates are rather qualitative and only show trends.)

2013

Outpost joined the Skolkovo project IT cluster, the main goal of which is to form a core and model of an effective ecosystem in Russia for the development and commercialization of IT-Innovations. At the same time, three priority tasks were identified on the way to this goal: concentration of resources and competencies in the field of IT; promoting the development of the innovation process; stimulating the formation of innovative IT infrastructure in key sectors of the Russian economy.

Among the largest implementations of Avanpost 3.0 PCs held in 2013, projects were noted in financial and credit institutions (MTS-Bank, Bank Trust and a number of others) and in the public sector. Thus, the IDM-decision "Outpost" has become one of the key elements of the integrated information security system (SOBI) AIS "Tax-3," created in the Federal Tax Service of Russia. A project is underway to implement in Svyaznoy Bank and a number of other organizations. Pilot projects are of great importance for the development of the IDM market and future revenues of the company, the successful completion of which, as a rule, develops into full-scale implementations. In 2013, major pilot projects were carried out at FGC (OJSC FEDERAL FREIGHT COMPANY), SME Bank (OJSC Russian Bank for Support of Small and Medium Enterprises) and Vnesheconombank (VEB). At the same time, the total number of full-scale implementations and pilot projects completed in 2013 is 12 and 32, respectively.

Turnover, according to its own data, increased by more than 300% from 35 million rubles to 108 million rubles in vendor prices.

2012

In May, Avanpost announced a change in the system for promoting its products and services to the Russian market. The company abandons the previously used scheme of outsourcing the functions of the sales department on the basis of exclusive agreements with integration companies. Avanpost is moving to a two-element distribution system that combines the use of distribution channels and partnerships with universal, IB- and industry integrators. At the same time, channel competition is excluded, and in each channel the company provides equal commercial conditions for all partners. The first affiliate programs were planned for launch in June 2012.

In 2012, there was a name change - the company abandoned the name "Business Development Technologies" in favor of "Outpost."

The turnover, according to its own data, amounted to 35 million rubles in vendor prices.

Joining LETA Group

Avanpost has applied an outsourcing scheme since 2007. The first three-year agreement (with Aladdin) ended in 2010, after which LETA (part of the LETA Group management company) became the new exclusive partner to promote Avanpost's development.

In 2012, it was decided to voluntarily terminate this agreement and to join the LETA Group as one of the promising assets. In May 2012, LETA Group acquired a controlling stake (55%) in Avanpost LLC. At the same time, Avanpost was headed by Andrei Konusov, who previously held the post of CEO of LETA. The transition to a new business model was the first major step to fulfill the new tasks set by Avanpost shareholders.

Avanpost Public Development Strategy

Short term

According to Avanpost estimates, in 2012 the volume of the Russian IDM market should have amounted to $60-70 million. By the USA end of 2013, this figure was supposed to increase to at least $80 million. UNITED STATES. At the same time, Avanpost's share was expected to grow from 1-2% (at the end of 2012) to 20%. By mid-2014, the company planned to become one of the key vendors in the Russian information security market and the main supplier of IDM solutions for customers who will conduct IDM implementations in 2013-2015. By 2017, the market volume will reach $700 million. USA, expected in Avanpost.

To implement this forecast, the average business had to get a fully functional IDM solution that fits into severe time and resource constraints. As of 2012, the Avanpost 3.0 software package (PC) was the only product on the Russian market that fully meets the requirements of large and medium-sized businesses. The Avanpost PC met the FSB requirements for managing licenses and distributions, and was also certified by the FSTEC, which significantly expanded the possibilities for using this software in the public sector and a number of industries, and also allowed it to be used in the IP of personal data with the highest requirements for their protection (up to class 1 inclusive).

Therefore, Avanpost's short-term strategy provided for the active development of Avanpost PCs in several areas at once, which more closely integrate IDM with the most important trends in information security and IT in general. These are:

  • expansion of functionality;
  • support for mobile devices and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) models;
  • Create connectors to integrate Avanpost PC features with all kinds of business applications and IT infrastructure elements.

At the same time, the company was aimed at mandatory certification of this software for compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation and fundamental information security standards (including FZ-152; STO BR IBBS and PCI DSS). Avanpost considered the most important task to compile and popularize the original IDM solution implementation methodology, which frees the company from the need to pre-form a full role model. This practice, although the norm, is completely unacceptable for many large and most medium-sized organizations. The Avanpost technique, which saves time and money from the customer, was ready for 2012 for a "run-in" on real projects of various scales.

Another key element of Avanpost's strategy is the rejection of exclusive agreements with integrators and the transition to a two-level distribution system (classic distribution and partnership with universal, IB- and industry integrators). As of 2012, more than ten partnership agreements were concluded, several more were at the signing stage, and by the end of the year the number of Avanpost partners - leaders in the position in various segments of the information security market - was supposed to exceed two dozen. The Avanpost partner program protected the integrator's margin and for a well-working company excluded the possibility of the client "pushing" an unacceptable project price under the threat of leaving for another contractor.

Avanpost and its partners focus on those industries where there is the highest readiness to implement complex IDM solutions, the necessary resources, and the price of information is especially high. These criteria will be met:

  • banking sector and insurance companies,
  • oil and gas sector enterprises,
  • innovative companies and the investment organizations supporting them.

Special target segments were small companies - suppliers of outsourcing services for large enterprises, as well as government agencies, which are impressed that all Avanpost developments are completely Russian, that they are certified and fully comply with current legislation.

By the end of 2013, Avanpost's investment was expected to reach $8-8.5 million. UNITED STATES. According to the initial plan, Avanpost was supposed to allocate 30% of this amount from the funds earned, and 70% - to make up the funds raised. However, the dynamics of the first four months since the change in the Avanpost business model showed better results, allowing the company to predict an increase in its share in 2013 investments to 50%.

Medium term

The further development of Avanpost should have been based on the forecast, which provides for an increase in the volume of the Russian IDM market by ten times by the end of 2017 - compared to 2013. According to the company, several factors should have provided this dynamics. First of all, along with the development of existing trends (further growth of cybercrime and mobility), the first place should have come out: tightening the requirements for compliance with the fundamental information security standards, as well as the increasing use of cloud services by enterprises of various scales.

Another significant factor is associated with Russia's accession to the WTO. Legislation requires foreign companies to use about 60% of local raw materials and components in the production of products supplied to our market; this was expected to dramatically increase the prevalence of the cluster business model driving the adoption of IDM systems.

Avanpost's medium-term strategy included intensive preparation for this period. So, in 2012, a number of promising projects were launched, including the creation of an IDM solution designed to work with "cloud" services and hybrid architectures - both on the user's side and at service providers. The company planned to prepare a pre-production sample of this solution in 2013, without waiting for the development and standardization of a generally accepted threat model for cloud services. In addition, at the same time, another key development of Avanpost was supposed to reach the level of an industrial solution - a three-phase authentication system, which integrates both traditional identification mechanisms and systems for physical security and user location control. At the same time, the Avanpost PC planned to support a wide range of identification mechanisms, including one-time passwords, SMS with passwords, biometric technologies.

Long-term perspective

In 2017, the nature of the IDM market development should have changed dramatically again. The new round of development was to be connected with the fact that technologies and new information security standards affecting the IDM segment will be reoriented to the level of individuals. The company predicted that IDM is one of the few segments of the information security market that will continue with this paradigm shift.

The drivers of these changes included the network storage of personal data, private and legally significant information of individuals, the need to control all kinds of information interactions in social networks and when creating all types of user-generated content. At the same time, it was taken into account that by 2017 almost every person will be a member of many such networks that unite people on all kinds of grounds (profession, social status, place of residence, habits, etc.). Integration with social networks of corporate Internet sites and business applications (in particular, HR, CRM, CMS, etc.) was to be completed. In addition, IDM technologies were supposed to extend to the areas of freelance and various innovative forms of attracting external intellectual resources to solve enterprise problems.

At the same time, it was taken into account that the circle of potential partners of the company is not limited, interaction can be interrupted indefinitely, and an external specialist should gain access to valuable and confidential corporate information (even cooperating with other organizations, including direct competitors). Under these conditions, the legal significance of IDM and the interaction of these systems with various reputation management mechanisms will acquire particular importance. The development of all the above technologies was the basis of Avanpost's long-term strategy.

The company hoped that these processes would lead to the fact that from 2017 to 2022 the volume of consumption of IDM technologies will increase at least tenfold. Thus, compared to 2012, the Russian IDM market will grow 100 times.

2007-2011

At the end of 2007, the first official release of the Avanpost software complex (PC) took place, in which the PKI and SSO functionality was implemented. In 2008, the first large-scale implementations in the banking industry took place. The following year, the software package was significantly improved, in particular, support for Certification Centers was expanded and operational characteristics were improved. In addition, the first introduction on the principles of unlimited licenses took place. In 2010, the software package was brought into full compliance with the requirements of the FZ-152 and STO BR IBBS, the company released the second version of the Avanpost PC and created the first hardware and software solution (appliance). At the same time, implementations outside the banking sector began. In 2011, the third release of the Avanpost PC was prepared, based on a fully functional IDM-PKI core and containing many new modules and workflow subsystem. Deliveries of this solution to customers began in March 2012.
