Migration Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk Region

On January 1, 2006, a new federal structure was formed in the Irkutsk Region, an executive body subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation - the Office of the Federal Migration Service for the Irkutsk Region. The name itself speaks for itself - this is a territorial body engaged in solving issues of law enforcement practice in the field of migration legislation. It was created by merging and withdrawing from the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Irkutsk Region two departments - the passport and visa and migration affairs department. The territorial body has structural divisions, including the Irkutsk-Airport Immigration Control Post at the checkpoint across the State Border of the Russian Federation. The need to create a new structure is caused by demographic changes taking place in society, an increase in the flow of foreign citizens to our country several times. The Office of the Federal Migration Service for the Irkutsk Region is created for the implementation of law enforcement functions, functions for control, supervision and provision of state services in the field of migration, as well as for the implementation of certain tasks and functions of the Federal Migration Service established by legislative and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation. It operates in the field of migration in Irkutsk and in the Irkutsk region.
