2022: Establishing a Company

On January 12, 2023, it became known that Rostelecom had created a new company to which the telecommunications operator would transfer the business of developing data management services. The established structure was called Tdata, its general director is Stanislav Lazukov, head of sales at Rostelecom's data management unit.

According to Kommersant, citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Tdata was registered in November 2022. According to the source of the publication, work on the separation of business is carried out together with one of the partners of Rostelecom.

Rostelecom has created a special company for the development of data processing tools

The publication reminds that Rostelecom has been developing data management services since 2017, and since June 2021 it has been offering them to third-party customers under the Data Management Platform brand.

The creation of a separate company for the "Data Management Platform" looks logical, because it takes too much time to make decisions on the scale of a large corporation, says Alexei Smirnov, head of the board of directors of BASEALT. The second company, he said, is usually involved for the sake of expertise:

The source of the newspaper in the cloud solutions market at the same time believes that "there can be no commercial or product meaning" in separating Tdat. The market for data processing tools is small, the product is highly specialized, the source said. The legal entity, in his opinion, is created with the expectation of selling a business or transferring to structures affiliated with Rostelecom.

The separation of business can increase interest in the development of operators that do not belong to Rostelecom, believes TelecomDaily CEO Denis Kuskov.[1]
