Launch of AI-generator of clothing photos on a virtual model
On October 10, 2024, it became known that the Megamarket marketplace, owned by the Sber ecosystem, presented an innovative service that uses artificial intelligence to generate photographs of clothes on virtual models. This technology is designed to simplify the process of creating content for merchant cards in the Fashion segment.
The new service, called Virtual Photography, allows sellers to generate images of their products on virtual models in seconds. The functionality is being tested with the participation of 300 sellers specializing in clothing. It is planned that by the end of 2024 the service will be available to a wide range of sellers free of charge.
The head of the Megamarket machine learning department, Pyotr Lukyanchenko, said that 49 photorealistic avatars created using generative AI are already available in the service database. It is planned to regularly replenish the base with new faces, figures and angles, as well as training an AI model for creating images of shoes and accessories.
The technology is based on image generation techniques using diffusion models and computer vision algorithms. The system takes into account the pose and complexion of a person, the type of clothing, tailoring and material for creating realistic photos. The generation process takes 10-20 seconds without restrictions on the number of attempts.
Anton Adasko, category director of the clothing and accessories procurement department at Megamarket, noted that the introduction of Virtual Photography will greatly simplify the work of sellers and reduce the barrier for new participants to enter the site. According to him, traditional photography of several positions costs sellers at least ₽15 thousand, and the approval process can take weeks.
Opening a warehouse in Khimki
The Megamarket warehouse was launched in the city of Khimki (Moscow region). The company announced this on September 13, 2024. On its basis, the marketplace is testing the rolling out of express delivery of goods from its sellers operating according to the "Storage + delivery from Megamarket" (FBO) scheme. Goods are delivered within one hour from the moment of order. The geography of delivery so far covers the nearby Moscow regions - North Tushino, Khovrino, East Degunino and others. In parallel with the capital region, similar testing of express delivery was launched from the updated warehouse of Megamarket in Krasnodar. Delivery by the "express" format there is carried out within the districts located in the northern and western parts of the city.
Warehouses are designed to store small products that are in high frequency demand: cosmetics, children's toys, stationery, household goods, DIY products, automotive accessories, seasonal goods and others. The weight of the unit of goods should not exceed 15 kg, the permissible length of one side is up to 110 cm, and the sum of the lengths of all parties is not more than 230 cm. A complete list of items that warehouses can accept is presented in the official Megamarket knowledge base for sellers.
Due to its large assortment and shallow runoff depth, the marketplace plans that the turnover of warehouses will be high. Among the recommendations for sellers: maintaining stocks of up to 10 units for each subcategory with regular replenishment, as well as the retail price of most of the stored goods - up to 500 rubles.
Warehouses are located at the following addresses:
- Moscow region, Khimki city, Khimki city, IKEA microdistrict, bldg. 1;
- Krasnodar Territory, Krasnodar, Prikubansky District, 2nd branch of AF "Solnechnaya," d. 7/2.
The procedure for placing goods in these warehouses does not differ from those already established in other warehouses of the Megamarket. Sellers need to issue a delivery through their personal account. For users, these items will appear in the Express section when you select shipping options.

Dozens of marketplace users received soap and screwdrivers instead of ordered iPhones
On December 18, 2023, it became known that many users of the Russian Megamarket marketplace smartphones iPhone received soap, screwdrivers and dummies of cellular devices instead of those ordered. The trading platform, the largest shareholder of which is Sber"," is checking the facts of fraud.
According to Forbes, more than 60 people who used the services of Megamarket faced deception when buying expensive iPhones. One of these consumers said that in the box delivered by the courier, instead of the iPhone 15 Pro, there were three pieces of soap. Another buyer instead of the iPhone 15 Pro Max worth 165 thousand rubles received screwdrivers. And some users got layouts. One of the buyers also said that the seller, from whom he ordered an Apple smartphone, immediately disappeared from Megamarket.
We are aware of the incident and are conducting an internal audit, - said representatives of the marketplace in response to consumer claims. |
As of mid-December 2023, 62 users of Megamarket were deceived. Deceived customers are promised the return of spent funds and bonuses in full. Money to the account or card is returned within 10 days, depending on the issuing bank, and bonuses - up to 48 hours.
According to the Telegram channel Baza, the "fake" iPhones were shipped on December 6 and 9, 2023. They were driven by a driver who worked in the marketplace for only a week. According to him, he has nothing to do with the thefts, because he did not even know what lay inside the parcels. Nevertheless, the man was suspended from work until the situation was clarified.[3]
Rebranding
SberMegaMarket marketplace rebranded. The company abandoned the prefix "Sber" in the name, and also changed the colors of the logo. The sbermegamarket.ru site now redirects to the megamarket.ru.
The press service of the marketplace clarified to the publication vc.ru August 1, 2023 that the service shortened the name so that "it more accurately reflects the purpose of the site."[4]
The name of the application in the App Store and Google Play was changed back in early 2023, but on other platforms it remained the same, and there was no official news about the rebranding. The company explained that this is how it "tested" the updated version.

Creating a Cozy Home Section
SberMegaMarket has launched an analogue of a search planner for decor in the middle price range in the spirit of IKEA and Zara Home. Goods similar in style and quality to foreign brands are available. This was announced by a company representative on August 12, 2022.
The section "Cozy House" appeared on SberMegaMarket, within which furniture and household goods are grouped under various types of room space - from the living room to the office. Customers can also choose an assortment suitable for a certain style of apartment, for example, loft, Art Nouveau, hi-tech, eco-style, etc. As early as August 2022, the section contains more than 2 million unique products, but the marketplace plans to expand the number of available offers and improve navigation.
According to SberMegaMarket, the number of orders in the furniture category in the 1 quarter of 2022 increased by 788% compared to the same period in 2021, while sales of household goods increased by 908%. The most popular product groups were anatomical and orthopedic pillows (1639% increase), bed linen (1410%), cooking utensils (913%), gaming chairs (746%), as well as office chairs, chairs and bench sections (585%). At the same time, users increasingly preferred a single style when searching for goods on the marketplace. For example, customers of SberMegaMarket more often bought goods in the style of loft (43%), Scandinavian (21%) and modern (14%). For the convenience of customers, it was decided to allocate commodity groups in key areas.
The pandemic has significantly changed our idea of the house: someone, having left for a remote location, remained in home office mode, many companies switched to a hybrid work format. All this, of course, affected the purchases of our customers for the arrangement of premises and the choice of decor elements. The trend, regardless of the design style, is multifunctional convertible furniture, ergonomics and functionality, competent zoning with partitions and screens, natural and environmentally friendly materials. At the same time, the assortment of SberMegaMarket in the segment is expanding, the number of new partners is growing. According to the results of the first half of 2022, about a thousand sellers in the furniture category and more than two thousand in the home goods category with active orders from our customers are represented on the marketplace. Therefore, as one of the key tricks in development, we chose to work on convenience in choosing by product groups and implemented the "Cozy House" project, " - commented Ivan Bugay, head of the Durable Goods business group of the SberMegaMarket marketplace.

Connection to "Sberbank" through InSales on special terms
On October 6, 2021, the Sbermegamarket company announced that now it is possible to connect to Sbermegamarket through InSales on special terms. Read more here.
Opening of own points of issue of orders
In September 2021, Sber began to develop its own points of issue of orders (PVZ). The first such points were opened by SberMegaMarket in Moscow. By the end of 2021, it is planned to open about 400 PVZs throughout the country, including 100 in Moscow and the Moscow region.
According to Kommersant, Sberbank became a partner in the development of its own PVZs, and SberMegaMarket-Retail is responsible for the management. Earlier, Sber issued orders through bank branches, Russian Post, Boxberry, 5Post and other services.
The company did not name the amount of investment in the opening of points, but according to JLL estimates, in Moscow the rental rate for such premises can be 15-30 thousand rubles per 1 sq. m per year. Thus, an annual lease of one point will cost about 600 thousand to 1.5 million rubles, if we take into account the standard market area of points in 40-50 square meters. m
SberMegaMarket stressed that its own PVZs are necessary to provide a "wider range of services," fitting and partial purchase of goods.
Experts interviewed by the publication believe that their own PVZs will allow the service to increase its recognition. At the same time, the largest marketplaces by September 2021 are already significantly bypassing SberMegaMarket in terms of the number of existing PVZs. In its own network of points for issuing orders Wildberries - 7.8 thousand points, Ozon - more than 6 thousand points, Yandex.Market - 5.4 thousand points.
Data Insight partner Boris Ovchinnikov told the publication that by the time real offline competition unfolds between the leading marketplaces, SberMegaMarket will have processes in place. But so far, the network of 400 PVZs in the country will definitely not have a significant impact on the site's revenues, experts agree.
Sber plans to invest 30 billion rubles in SberMegaMarket. The company is set to enter the top e-commerce three by 2023. [5]
goods.ru renamed "Sbermegamarket"
At the end of April 2021, Sberbank announced the renaming of the marketplace Goods.ru. It became known as "Sbermegamarket." It is planned to complete the full rebranding by the end of the second quarter.
According to Sberbank, the name changes will not affect buyers and sellers of the marketplace. All information from personal accounts will be transferred to the new site, including accumulated bonuses. Renegotiation of existing contracts between the marketplace and sellers will also not be required, and the commercial terms of cooperation will not change.
An entry to Sber ID and free delivery for SberPrime subscribers will appear in Sbermegamarket. Integration of the marketplace into the Sberbank ecosystem will continue: it is planned to connect it to the Sberbank market platform and integrate it with Sberbank. This will significantly increase the level of service and the speed of delivery, and will also allow attracting sellers to the site who previously did not have the opportunity to work with the marketplace within the framework of our operating model, according to Sberbank.
Sberbank said that Sberbank will become the main multi-category online store, which by the end of April 2021 presents 16 main categories (including electronic and household appliances, household goods, clothing, construction and repair, children's goods) with 2.5 million goods from 8 thousand stores. "Spermegamarket" delivers goods to 450 cities of Russia.
Spermegamarket "is of great importance for the development of the Sberbank ecosystem," says Lev Khasis, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank. - Competition in the e-commerce market is already great and will only grow, but the inhabitants of the country will only benefit from this. We set ourselves the goal of becoming one of the largest players in the Russian e-commerce market by 2023, and Spermegamarket will become an important element in achieving this goal. With the help of the marketplace, we want to provide all residents of Russia with the best online shopping experience[6] |

Establishment of a advisory board to independently assess performance and external expertise on strategic initiatives
On January 9, 2020, Marketplace goods.ru (part of the Group) M of Video El Dorado announced the creation of a consulting council to independently assess the results of work and external expertise on the company's strategic initiatives. The council will be headed by the ex-head of the ecosystem development directorate "" Sberbank SberX and director in Alibaba Group. Russia Mark Zavadsky
In addition to Mark Zavadsky, the council included several more people:
- Ilya Eisen, co-founder and CEO of Flocktory;
- Eldar Vagapov, General Director and Member of the Board of Directors of Larnabel Ventures LLC;
- Andrey Gubanov, Operations Director m_mobile M.Video-Eldorado Group;
- Alexander Tynkovan, founder and president of the M.Video-Eldorado Group.
The Advisory Board is not a governing body and is intended to assist shareholders and marketplace management in comprehensively assessing the company's performance, implementing the strategy and finding sources of growth.
Attracting independent market experts on an ongoing basis for consultations between top management and shareholders is one of the elements of a healthy corporate governance system. M.Video used this practice long before the IPO, creating an advisory board, which included directors with experience in top positions in foreign retail companies and in manufacturing companies, and the history of development retailer proved the effectiveness of this approach. In public business, this role is played by the board of directors, but unlike the latter, the advisory board is not included in the legal structure of the management of the company. Experts give recommendations on business development, help shareholders and management to comprehensively assess the results of work, planned actions and take into account the maximum risks. I am very pleased that the advisory board was headed by Mark Zavadsky, his experience in developing the global marketplace will no doubt be useful to the company, noted the founder and president of the M.Video-Eldorado Group Alexander Tynkovan
|
The advisory board is an opportunity for the owners and management of the company on an ongoing basis to attract external expertise without the need to build a complex corporate structure at the stage of rapid business development. External consultants allow you to look at the business from different angles and provide greater opportunities to build a dialogue with the market. In the near future, we plan to strengthen the council with several strong professionals with the expertise necessary for goods.ru at the current stage of business development, stated Mark Zavadsky

2019: Agreement with Russian Post to boost sales
On November 14, 2019, Russian Post announced that its customers will have access to an assortment of goods.ru, which as of November 2019 has more than 1.5 million products. In turn, the marketplace will expand its capabilities to promote products through effective logistics and the operating platform of the Russian Post with a large customer base, which will provide a significant increase in sales to sellers placing product offers on the online platform. More detailed here.
2018
Processing of the first 85 thousand orders
M.Video, a Russian retailer of electronics and household appliances, and the Goods marketplace, part of the SafmarMikhail Gutseriev Group, announced the first results of the platform in January 2018. As of January 11, Goods is already cooperating with more than 200 online stores and manufacturers and has managed to accept orders for more than 370 million rubles.
The Russian full-format marketplace has been operating since September 2017 and offers customers more than 250 thousand goods from 200 partners - household appliances and electronics, children's goods, toys, pet products, household goods, beauty and self-care, auto goods, as well as for repairs, home and garden. The range available on Goods accounts for 60% of the target audience's annual consumer basket. The ratio of men to women among Goods buyers is 55% and 45%, age - 25-44.
We have been gradually increasing the load on the site over the past few months and checking the operation of IT systems, as well as all business processes related to packaging, delivery or return of orders. During the beta test, we received more than 1000 offers from our buyers, implemented most of them into the platform. Every month our turnover almost doubles, two-thirds of customers who made even a small purchase from us return. In total, we accepted orders for more than 370 million rubles, so the start of Goods can be considered successful, "said Solomon Kunin, CEO of Goods. |
The platform offers a combined basket: you can add goods from different sellers in any category to one order and receive them in one delivery, which saves time and money. On the platform, you can compare prices from different sellers and choose the most profitable. Goods runs a "best price guarantee" program so that buyers can compare prices not only with sellers on the site, but also on the market as a whole, and make a purchase at the most profitable.
Goods also offers customers to join a loyalty program, save bonus rubles and pay them up to 50% of the cost of new purchases. By analogy with coalition programs, in which several companies participate at once, the marketplace charges bonus rubles for orders from any store, and the user can spend them on any other goods of his choice.
During 2018, Goods expects to launch a mobile application, the "availability guarantee" service, the purpose of which is to ensure 100% order fulfillment even if one of the sellers refuses, while maintaining the cost and delivery period so that the buyer is guaranteed to receive his purchase. In the first half of 2018, the company plans to organize points for issuing and returning orders in M.Video stores and in points for issuing orders.
In the perimeter of the Safmar group
Goods (Marketplace LLC) is a Russian full-length marketplace developed by M.Video.
The owners of Goods as of January 2018 were M.Video and Alexander Tynkovan. As a subsidiary of M.Video, Goods is part of the perimeter of the Safmar Group.
2017: Launch of the online platform

The company announced plans to launch the platform in the second half of 2017[7]
So far, Goods is undergoing internal testing. Technically, the platform will begin to function in the second quarter of 2017, but the commercial launch will take place later. At first, it will serve only Moscow and the Moscow region, but by the end of 2020, M.video plans to bring Goods to cities with a million population. Solomon Kunin, Project Director |
The site has a chance to become a domestic analogue of Amazon, capturing about 15% of the Russian Internet trade market in the medium term. Alexander Tynkovan, President of M.video |
Goods is owned by "M.video." The amount of authorized capital allocated by the parent company was not disclosed. After the sale of M.video is completed, Goods will be owned by the Safmar group.
Goods will charge sellers a commission for each completed order, the amount of the commission is not specified. The buyer will be able to see and compare the prices for the goods of interest to him in different stores. Purchases from different sellers will be combined into a blanket order, the payment, delivery, return and exchange system will be shared, regardless of the seller. In the future, customers will receive bonuses for their purchases and spend them on the site.
As of February 16, 2017, M.video announced the presence of nine partners in the Goods project, 30 more stores are expected. In 2017, the company plans to bring the total number of project participants to 400.
In the first months after launch, the platform will represent five categories of products:
- household appliances and electronics,
- household goods and repairs,
- products for children,
- everyday goods, including products with a long shelf life
- pet supplies.
After the launch, it is planned to add categories of sports and automotive goods.
The most "difficult" categories, that is, clothes and perishable products, will not be added yet. |
Earlier, M.video planned to launch the site in February 2017, representing seven categories of goods with delivery in Moscow and the Moscow region. At the beginning of 2018, the company was going to bring the number of categories to 13, adding food, clothes, shoes, household chemicals and furniture, and start serving other regions of Russia.
From April to September 2017, the marketplace operated in alpha test mode.
2016: Company Registration
The idea to create a marketplace came to the leadership of M.Video in 2016, at the same time work began on its implementation. On August 26, 2016, the retailer registered Marketplace LLC, Solomon Kunin was appointed CEO.[8]
