We, as a socially responsible business, are ready to take on additional obligations and intend to develop a network of Mega shopping centers, "said Tigran Khachaturov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank. |
Ingka Group also owns the Ikea chain of furniture and homewares stores. This group, due to the current geopolitical situation, closed its stores in Russia and sold Russian production facilities. Experts believe that the new owner of the Mega network will have to solve the problem of filling the empty areas of the departed brands, in particular, the main anchor tenant, Ikea. In addition, it is necessary to attract buyers in the face of reduced attendance. Alexander Sharapov, President of the Russian Guild of Managers and Developers, believes that Gazprombank is unlikely to manage the facilities on its own: a new structure in the field of retail real estate can be created for this.[3]
