2022: Rosatom announces radical expansion of consortium for full import substitution of mathematical modeling systems

A consortium of Russian CAD/CAE system developers, organized in July 2021, is developing a legal mechanism for quickly expanding the number of participants. For 9 months, not a single new member was accepted into it. This was told to TAdviser by Dmitry Fomichev, director of mathematical modeling at ROSATOM.

According to him, a public offer is being developed that will allow you to quickly connect new participants. Now a cooperation agreement has been concluded between the members of the consortium, and in order to accept a new participant, it is necessary to re-sign the current agreement. To avoid complex bureaucratic procedures, the cooperation agreement will be reformatted into an offer. Signing this offer by a new member will mean automatically joining the consortium. By the end of 2022, the consortium should have about 20 organizations.

In July 2021, the consortium was established on the initiative of Rosatom. It included Rosatom-controlled Rusatom-Digital Solutions, Federal State Unitary Enterprise Russian Federal Nuclear Center - All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics ( RFNC VNIIEF), Engineering and Technical Center Jet ( ITC Jet), as well as commercial companies Top Systems, "and" 3. According to Dmitry Fomichev, the new reality in which our economy found itself in February 2022 requires accelerated digital import substitution in industry. To solve the problems encountered, a consortium is being transformed.

The development of own products can significantly accelerate when combining the capabilities of market participants. If you like, this is one of the main synergies that the collaboration gives. The current tasks of ensuring digital technological independence of the economy are very ambitious, they cannot be achieved alone, no matter how technologically and financially strong we would be. Also, the consortium allows you to centrally exchange information between participants, act as a "single window" in front of customers, "said TAdviser Dmitry Fomichev.

As the director of mathematical modeling of ROSATOM Group of Companies noted, the consortium was originally created to ensure the technological independence of industrial enterprises and research centers in the country in the field of supercomputer (mathematical) modeling and engineering analysis systems. Members of the consortium have begun to create a platform on which companies can host digital products of CAD/CAE systems classes for use by industrial customers. Moreover, not only members of the consortium, but also other market participants who have created their own solutions based on domestic software will be able to place the development.

The basis of the unified platform of the consortium will be the Logos Platform of Rosatom, presented in December 2021. Logos Platform is a software environment that enables third-party software to be integrated using APIs. As explained by TAdviser Dmitry Fomichev, it is assumed that the software that the user needs to integrate to solve the production problem is purchased from the appropriate vendor. At the same time, Rosatom, as part of the consortium, also began to build a model within which the customer will have the opportunity to purchase the necessary set of software as a single comprehensive IT solution. In July 2021, it was announced that a single consortium platform would appear before the end of the year.

According to Dmitry Fomichev, the platform approach will allow by 2027 to ensure the import substitution of 80% of the currently used foreign mathematical modeling systems, and by 2030 to achieve full digital sovereignty in this segment of engineering software.

As noted by Dmitry Fomichev, the consortium of CAD/CAE systems developers works closely with the Development consortium, which is working on the "heavy" domestic PLM complex. According to him, there are no joint projects yet, but in the near future such projects may appear.

According to the press service Rosatom of "," the agreement is designed to unite players in the CAD/CAE market to solve state the problem of ensuring the digital independence of the Russian economy in the field of engineering (ON primarily enterprises of strategic industries).

A consortium of CAD developers has been formed in Russia

Fundamentally, we are talking about creating an open platform, which will accelerate the emergence of competitive domestic developments and provide feedback to industrial customers. Such an approach promises by 2027 to reduce dependence on foreign design tools to 20% or, to put it differently, by 80% will close the needs of Russian CAD/CAE developments.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpak noted that there are no full-fledged Russian analogues of some foreign products.

It is very important that with CAD/CAE systems - the segment in which our developers are not too represented yet - this movement begins and a consortium is created. Only by combining all the forces at our disposal on the principles of openness of the platform, accessibility of architecture, the creation of libraries, the development of common norms and rules in terms of interfaces, protocols, our effective movement forward is possible, "he said.[1]
