All-Russian Research Institute of Hydrometeorological Information World Data Center GU VNIIGMI-MCD

GU VNIIGMI-MCD is an institution of Roshydromet and is responsible for the organization of the collection and storage of hydrometeorological information. The institute implements all stages of the movement of information from observation and obtaining data to obtaining and using new knowledge in the field of hydrometeorology, oceanography, climatology. GU "VNIIGMI-MCD" - participates in many international projects, including in the programs of the World Meteorological Organization and UNESCO. As a result of many years of efforts by scientists and specialists of the institute, in cooperation with the institutions of Roshydromet, a unique data fund has been created at the VNIIGMI-MCD State University, containing information on hydrometeorology and the state of the natural environment for many decades, and on individual observation points for centuries.

The Institute's activities include scientific research and scientific and technical work in the field of: creation of methods and technologies for maintaining the Russian State Data Fund on the State of the Natural Environment (Gosfond); creation and implementation of information technologies for collecting, processing, storing and servicing the country's economy with information on the state of the natural environment; studies of climate change based on high-quality sets of hydrometeorological information and the use of empirical and statistical methods of data analysis.
