History
2024: Gazprom bought the MTS Live Hall concert hall
PJSC Gazprom became the new owner of the concert hall on Primorsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, formerly known as MTS Live Hall. The object with an area of 12.2 thousand square meters. m changed its name to "Lakhta Hall" from July 1, 2024.
According to Kommersant, the name change is associated with the sale of the Gazprom facility. Information about the transfer of property rights appeared on the official website of the concert venue. The representative of Lakhta Hall confirmed the sale, but the press services of Gazprom and MTS refused to comment on the deal.
The former owner of the facility, Vadim Finkelstein, confirmed that the building was sold to Gazprom in 2023. At the same time, he clarified that it was the object itself that went to the new owner, and not the share in the authorized capital of KSK Arena LLC, M-1 which continues to operate and engage in other projects.
Real estate experts suggest that the transaction could have passed at a significant discount. Alexander Basalygin, founder of BS Art Development Group, estimates the cost per square meter to be significantly lower than ₽100 thousand, given the low popularity of the concert venue in the city.
Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Theory and Sociology of St. Petersburg State University Dmitry Ivanov expressed the opinion that real estate objects with the name "Lakhta," located in the area of the same name, only outwardly seem promising, but in fact they are not. "However, Gazprom can afford any whims, and the reasons for the acquisition of this asset are probably related to the internal plans of the company. Over the decades of managing facilities in Lakhta, it becomes obvious that Gazprom is not too worried about financial losses and the economics of projects, "Ivanov stressed.
Stanislav Stupnikov, General Director of MTL. Asset Management, "believes that with competent reconception, the object can become a profitable public and business space. In his opinion, it is possible to fill the building with offices, co-working space, restaurants with the preservation of a small concert hall. The concert hall on 80 Primorsky Prospekt has repeatedly changed its names. It was previously known as M-1 Arena and Tinkoff Arena[1]
