2023: Finalizing merger with Wink

Rostelecom and the National Media Group (NMG) on June 15, 2023 announced the conclusion of a deal to combine the video services of more.tv and Wink as part of a joint venture (JV). The combined service will operate under the Wink brand and intends to become one of the leaders in the online cinema market in Russia. The documents on the deal were signed by Rostelecom President Mikhail Oseevsky and NMG General Director Svetlana Balanova.

Rostelecom's share in the authorized capital of the joint venture will be 70%, and NMG - 30%. On the part of NMG, an online cinema is transferred to more.tv and a 50% stake in NMG Studio. Rostelecom, in turn, transfers the Wink online cinema, including a single platform for working in OTT and IPTV environments.

In our joint venture, the participants combine their strengths and competencies. On the part of "Rostelecom" this is the fastest growing video service in the country, which in a short time came out on the second place in the number of paying subscribers. On the part of NMG - competencies and experience in the production of special film series content in the person of NMG Studio, as well as the library and subscriber base more.tv. Thus, the joint venture will be able to accelerate the development of the combined assets, increase its share in the rapidly growing market and offer the best exclusive content that takes into account the entire range of requests and interests of our multimillion-dollar audience throughout the country, - said Mikhail Oseevsky, President of Rostelecom.

2022

Growth of the subscriber base to 5.5 million

The streaming service of the National Media Group in 2022 increased the base of paying subscribers taking into account the partner distribution network by 45%, reaching 5.5 million compared to 3.8 million in 2022. The service announced this on January 19, 2023.

In addition, the more.tv service entered the top 5 sites of Russian online cinemas in terms of attendance for December 2022. It had 24.8 million visits.

There are several components at the heart of such rapid growth. First of all, I want to highlight the team. But their work is built on a balanced content line. We make projects for a wide variety of audiences and competently reduce them into a single commercial offer. And then our daring experiments in marketing are already operating - without them it is more difficult to imagine. But such success would be impossible without partners who trust us so much that they are ready to support any of our adventures,
said Dmitry Granov, CEO of more.tv.

In 2022, the online platform released six original projects, including the thriller "The Heifers," the documentary series "Zero," the sports drama "Home Field," the youth drama "Pack," the melodrama "In Two," the black comedy "Aurora," as well as the fourth season of "Difficult Teenagers."

Merge with Wink

On July 4, 2022, Rostelecom and the National Media Group (NMG) announced an agreement to merge their video services Wink and more.tv, respectively. Under the terms of the contract, the companies will create a joint venture, 70% of which will belong to Rostelecom, and 30% to NMG. The combined business will operate under the Wink brand.

According to Rostelecom, the creation of a single business structure is aimed at strengthening the positions of both sides in the Russian content production and distribution market. It is planned to gradually combine services, content libraries and client databases, as well as create a single competence center for the production and production of original content. Integration procedures should be completed by the end of 2022.

More.tv and Wink merge into one online cinema

To resolve operational issues within the framework of the transaction, an integration committee will be created, which will include representatives of both parties. It will define the formation principles, business structure and management system of the joint venture.
