2022: Closure of all communication salons

On October 6, 2022, it became known about Rostelecom's decision to close all its communication salons, in which companies, individuals and legal entities, could connect Rostelecom services and services, buy a smartphone, repay a loan, make a money transfer, receive an order from an online store, etc.

According to Forbes, citing its source close to Rostelecom, by the end of October 2022 the company will close its subsidiary Rostelecom-Retail Systems LLC (RRS), which was developing a network of communication salons. The press service of the telecom operator confirmed this information.

Rostelecom is completing the process of transferring a client service to a remote format. Considering that the solution of all issues is possible without a physical visit to communication salons, their presence loses its relevance and economic feasibility. The transition to a new client service model lasted several years, sales and service centers were closed gradually, and the last salons will be closed in October 2022, the Rostelecom press service said.

As explained in the company, almost 100% of customers prefer its digital service channels, and the share of customers visiting the operator's offices is 0.01%. At the same time, about 70% of personal calls to salons are related to payment and connection of services, obtaining information about current tariffs, buying equipment - all services and assistance of specialists are available online, added to the press service of Rostelecom.

According to a Forbes source, RRS employees were warned about the closure of the company in two months - at the end of August 2022. The interlocutor noted that the business began to experience problems after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. The company promised to pay several salaries to employees who fell under the reduction, the source said.[1]

2021

Rostelecom was left without an iPhone 13: no one came to the tender announced by the operator

Rostelecom's retail network was left without the iPhone 13; not a single application was submitted for a tender for the purchase of smartphones, announced by the largest Russian operator. The press service of Rostelecom TAdviser confirmed that the tender for a total of 186.2 million rubles, announced at the end of October on the public procurement portal, was declared invalid on November 12.more

Appointment of Denis Goleshchikhin as CEO

Merger of Rostelecom and Tele2 retail chains

On May 19, 2020, Rostelecom announced the merger of the operator's retail networks and Tele2. They will be managed by Rostelecom - Retail Systems LLC.

Rostelecom and Tele2 combine retail chains under one legal entity

According to him, all retail management activities will be carried out from a single center, the Tele2 team will be responsible for the work, since the retail of this company is more.[2]

By May 19, 2020, Tele2 owns 3250 salons, Rostelecom - 800. Tele2 is developing its network according to a franchise model, and Rostelecom uses both its own sites and leases them. 

Both brands will remain, and the combined retail will presumably retain the name Rostelecom - Retail Systems. Changes in the work of Tele2 retail on the franchise system are also not planned.

Rostelecom - Retail Systems launched in July 2017 sales of services and servicing of B2B segment customers throughout Russia. Now in the communication salons of Rostelecom you can leave an application for connecting services or a request for service.

Revenue from additional services for 9 months of 2016 increased 2 times compared to 2015. The most popular services were: money transfers, insurance services, payment for services of 3 persons, sale of SIM-cards, receipt of Internet orders.

Rostelecom's retail network consisted of 7 macro-regional branches with a head office in Moscow: Center, South, North-West, Volga, Ural, Siberia and the Far East. As of November 2016, the RRS included more than 1,300 sales and service centers in 76 regions and 1,343 settlements. By the end of 2016, the company plans to launch 12 salons of a new format.

In two years, the company launched partner programs with the leaders of the insurance market, the big four mobile operators, and the largest payment systems. Additional services for customers have appeared, including money transfers, repayment of loans, lotteries, sale of SIM cards and customer service, issuance of orders for 600 online stores, insurance, air and railway tickets, complex technical goods (mobile phones, tablets) and accessories for them.

The main activity of the company as of November 2016 is the connection and service of Rostelecom subscribers - individuals and legal entities, as well as the implementation of additional services and services. 2014-2015

As of November 2015, Rostelecom - Retail Systems LLC is a 100% subsidiary of PJSC Rostelecom, created in order to develop and increase the efficiency of the company's own retail network. The retail network reform project was launched in November 2014.
