2025: PET/CT equipment purchase for ₽2,4 billion
At the end of April 2025, it became known about two large tenders for the purchase of medical equipment for federal medical centers. The health care institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Emergencies, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the FMBA have united to purchase positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) for a total of more than ₽5,4 billion.
According to Medvestnik, the first tender, announced on April 28, 2025, provides for the purchase of ten PET/CT devices with a total initial maximum contract price of ₽2,4 billion. The application on the public procurement portal was posted by the National Medical Research Center of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after V.I. Kulakov. According to the terms of the tender, the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology will receive three devices, the remaining participants - one each. The equipment will be delivered to medical institutions in Krasnoyarsk, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg and Moscow. Read more here.
2023: Start of construction of production of cell drugs for 1.5 billion rubles
On July 25, 2023, it became known that the National Medical Research Center (NMIC) for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I. Kulakova signed a contract for design and survey work for the construction of cell drug production. Approximately 50 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes, while the total cost of the project is 1.5 billion rubles.
It is noted that the National Medical Research Center named after V.I. Kulakova has many years of experience in the fundamental and clinical applications of cellular technologies. However, the center cannot use the results of scientific research in the field of regenerative medicine in practice, since it does not have the premises and the necessary equipment that would meet the licensing requirements for the production of drugs. The project being implemented will eliminate these problems.
Engineering surveys and preparation of design documentation for the construction of a new facility will be carried out by Ardent M LLC. All types of drugs containing viable cells are planned to be produced at the site. These are, in particular, autologous preparations based on cells or tissues obtained from the patient's body. In addition, drugs will be made based on the secretome of cells - a complex of biologically active substances that cells secrete outward and are used for intercellular communication. Another planned area of activity is tissue engineering drugs.
The area of the production complex will be about 3.3 thousand square meters. Design work should be completed by December 23, 2023, and the commissioning of the facility is scheduled for 2027. Financing is carried out from the federal budget. It is expected that the complex will allow the production of at least 10 autologous drugs containing 2.5 billion cells at the same time.[1]
2022: Mishustin allocated 231.6 million rubles for the introduction of digital technologies for training obstetricians and gynecologists
At the end of May 2022, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order, which allocated about 231.6 million rubles to the Kulakov Center for the introduction of digital technologies for training obstetricians and gynecologists.
The document says that the funds will be used to re-equip a simulation and training center working on the basis of the institution, in which international scientific and practical training seminars on the protection of the health of mothers, newborns and children under the age of 5 are held.
Simulation and training center was created on the basis of the National Medical Research Center named after Kulakov in October 2011. The purpose of the center is to improve the quality of practical training of doctors and nurses. Specialists from Russia and the CIS countries can undergo training at the center. It hosts international educational scientific and practical seminars for doctors, the development, approval and implementation of educational programs using simulation technologies, as well as specialized accreditation.
The head of the center is Elizaveta Khamatkhanova. The structure of the center has simulation classes and debriefing zones for practicing practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, anesthesiology and resuscitation. Trainings at the center are conducted in obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology-resuscitation, emergency care, nursing, instrumental diagnostics, as well as multidisciplinary trainings.
By June 2022, the National Medical Research Center named after Academician V.I. Kulakova is a multidisciplinary scientific and clinical complex, in the structure of which there are 61 clinical divisions and 25 scientific and clinical laboratories, where 2.8 thousand people work. The capacity of the National Medical Research Center is 583 beds, including 253 obstetric beds, 100 neonatal and 147 gynecological.[2]
