Rosatom will unite enterprises working on cybersecurity to transfer CII to domestic IT solutions

Rosatom is going to unite cybersecurity enterprises to ensure the transfer of Russian entities of critical information infrastructure (CII) to domestic software solutions and equipment. This was announced on August 8, 2024 by the director of technological development of the state corporation Andriy Shevchenko.

According to RIA Novosti, Rosatom was appointed a pilot structure for the implementation of a project to transfer KII facilities to domestic technologies. The corporation is developing a line of so-called trusted solutions, including software and hardware, which will be implemented at CII facilities.

Rosatom will unite enterprises working on cybersecurity

According to Shevchenko, within the framework of the industry, Rosatom was constantly engaged in these issues, but at the federal level, participation began in March 2022, when decree No. 166 of the President of Russia was issued. This decree prescribed to ensure the technological independence and security of Russia's critical information infrastructure. In September 2022, the government and the Security Council of the Russian Federation set the task for Rosatom to create a research and production association that will develop, produce, operate and maintain trusted hardware and software systems.

As a result, in October 2022, the joint-stock company "Scientific and Production Association" Critical Information Systems "(NPO" KIS ") was created. This structure is responsible for the full life cycle of trusted hardware and software complexes, including their development, production and maintenance.

However, as Shevchenko noted, the efforts of one enterprise are not enough to fulfill this large-scale task. Rosatom began to form a whole "muscle," uniting specialized enterprises of the industry and state-owned enterprises operating in this area. The corporation has taken up investment investments, creating a network of enterprises that will help focus on fulfilling their tasks.

On the basis of existing enterprises and organizations of Rosatom, pilot polygons have been created for testing trusted software and hardware systems and software. The industry has adopted 28 criteria for the power of attorney of such complexes, of which 11 are mandatory.[1]
