Start returning goods from private sellers

Avito's company on January 16, 2023 announced the launch of a return option from private sellers within two weeks of purchase.

The return option is available for goods delivered by Avito logistics partners - Russian Post, Boxberry, SDEK, Avito x EXMAIL, etc. In search results, returns will be marked with a special green "14 days return" badge. This means that the seller undertakes to return the funds if the buyer refuses the goods within two weeks after receiving the order.

At the same time, the standard scheme for checking the goods, valid for all orders in Avito Delivery, will remain the same - the buyer has 15 minutes to check the goods. If the thing by some parameters did not suit the buyer, then he can refuse it on the spot - the money for delivery and the goods will not be debited from him.

Earlier on the platform, the return of goods after confirmation of receipt was available only for purchases from legal entities - stores that connected the Avito Delivery option.

As of January 16, 2023, the "return of goods" option works in test mode for one million sellers actively using Avito. If the seller has such an opportunity, the "14 days return" switch becomes available in the settings, which allows "return" for each advertisement with connected Delivery, as well as for all new advertisements. In the future, it will also be possible to connect the return option only for individual ads.

After receiving the order from the buyer, the "I want to issue a return" button will appear on the order page. When you click, an online form will open where the buyer can select the reason for the return, attach photos illustrating the condition of the product, and indicate what did not suit. Return shipment of goods through Avito Delivery is possible only by Russian Post.

Conditions for return:

  • If the product is of the proper quality, it can only be returned without new traces of use - in the form in which the seller sent it;
  • If the product is of improper quality (turned out to be defective or does not work), the seller undertakes to accept it, even if there are traces of use on the product.

To carry out the return, the seller chooses a convenient branch of the Russian Post, where the goods will come. If the seller managed to withdraw money for the goods, then you will simply need to indicate your card with which the refund amount is reserved. At the same time, a mechanism for protecting funds will operate at all stages - they will go to the buyer only when the seller receives his goods back and confirms that he is in order.

After receiving your item, the seller has two days to report a hidden problem with the item that could not be noticed upon receipt.

Until the beginning of July 2023, there is an industrial period during which the return shipment of goods will be free.

If the buyer wants to return the goods of the proper quality, the photo of which shows traces of use, the seller will be able to reject such an application. In this case, the application will go into dispute, and Avito, a dedicated support line return specialist, will join the problem.

Opportunity for sellers to create their own promotions with promotional codes

Avito expands the capabilities of entrepreneurs when working with the platform and launches additional functionality with which you can conduct promotions and create promotional codes for goods. At the same time, sellers will be able to independently manage and set the necessary parameters of the promotion: the timing of the advertising campaign, the size of the discount, as well as the total number of applications of the promotional code. The company announced this on December 22, 2022.

Sellers will have the opportunity to create their own promotions with promotional codes for goods through the "Special Offers" section. The section will be available in the PC version in the profile menu for all seller segments or from the banner in the rotation in the "My Listings" section.

When creating a promotion, the seller can specify the discount amount as a percentage (from 1 to 90%) or as a fixed amount - the discount in rubles must also correspond to the amount from 1 to 90% of the cost of the goods. It can also specify the total maximum number of applications of the promo code and the possible number of applications of the promo code by one customer. Only goods with Avito connected Delivery can be added to the promotion at points of issue and checkpoints.

The seller independently sets the start date and timing of the promotion - from 1 day to 1 year. You can also manage the campaign - duplicate or end ahead of schedule - from the list of shares after its creation.

After the seller sets all the promotion settings, the platform generates a unique set of characters for the promo code. By default, the promotional code is visible only to the seller, who can leave it hidden to buyers and use it as a personal offer for individual customers. Data from 600 thousand users of Avito and Yula were freely available

On July 23, 2020, it became known about the appearance of data from 600 thousand Avito and Yula users in the public domain. Attackers can use this information to send spam and try to steal money from bank cards.

The appearance of databases of clients of Avito and Yula services on one of the hacker forums was discovered by Kommersant journalists. The directory is six.csv files (three of them are Avito databases, three are Yula). The first archive was uploaded to the forum on June 26, 2020, the last on the morning of July 22. The files are not protected and are opened by any application for viewing tables, any user can download them, the publication says.

The press service of Avito also reported that the user data contained in the databases were in the public domain and this is not a leak of information.

How scammers rob Russians of 1 million rubles a day through Avito

In mid-May 2020, it became known about a new fraudulent scheme used on free ad portals, mainly on Avito. Because of such a scam, users lose about 1 million rubles daily.

Experts from BI.Zone (a subsidiary of Sberbank) spoke about the criminal scheme. Its essence lies in the fact that fraudsters place certain goods on Avito or Yula at a significantly lower price. When trying to buy such an item, the "seller" explains that he is in another city and offers to arrange delivery. After the consent of the buyer, a phishing link is sent to him, following which he gets to a resource that completely copies the official registration. Q4: 57% sales growth

Profitability in terms of EBITDA for 2013 amounted to 680 million rubles or 28%, in 2014 2.177 billion rubles or 50.6%. In the fourth quarter, this figure reached 39% - 489 million rubles. The main shareholder of the company, the Kinnevik fund and representatives of the resource did not explain at what rate the revenue was calculated.

Experts suggest that Avito's slowdown may be due to the fall of the ruble and strong sales growth of offline retailers at the end of the year.

More than 1 million mobile phones sold

According to the analytical center Avito, in 2014, more than 1 million mobile phones were sold using the site, which is 53% more than in 2013 (685 thousand devices). Thus, over the year, sales increased by one and a half times, while experts do not exclude that in the coming months the demand for equipment purchased from individuals may become even higher.

Four of the TOP-5 best-selling brands on Avito could not keep their positions on the site in the 4th quarter of 2014, experts say. Brands such as Samsung, Nokia, Sony and HTC have lost about 10% of sales on Avito in the last quarter.

According to the data obtained as a result of the study, Samsung's share by the end of 2014 amounted to 13.8%, which is 3.2% less than in the previous quarter, and 4.2% more than at the end of 2013.

Losses Nokia compared to the 3rd quarter amounted to 3.3%, and from the 4th quarter of 2013 - as much as 9.2% of sales on the site. In the past October-December, the Finnish manufacturer managed to get only 10.1%.

Sony and HTC lost an average of only 1% in the quarter, but their positions in secondary sales are not so strong - 5.7% and 4.4%, respectively.

As you might guess, the shares of these brands went to the iPhone, whose sales on Avito in the last three months of 2014 increased by 10.8%, reaching 51.1%. This situation is unprecedented - even in 2013, the American brand received 38.2% of sales. The increase in demand for secondary gadgets Apple was the result of two factors: the release of new products 6 iPhone and 6 Plus in September, after which the site began to actively sell models 5 and 5S, as well as rising prices in the primary market due to sharp fluctuations in exchange rates.

If we talk about the regions, then the leaders at the end of the year were Moscow and St. Petersburg: 30.5% and 18.4% of phones were sold here. Only Krasnodar and the region, where users of the site sold 5.3% of all devices sold through AVITO.ru in 2013, overcame the five percent barrier.

Naspers bulletin boards are part of the Avito.ru

Avito Holding and Naspers have combined their Russian free classifieds services: Naspers-owned Slando.ru and OLX.ru sites will become part of the Avito.ru. Outside of Russia, Slando and OLX services will, as before, exist as independent projects.

At the same time, South African Naspers announced an investment in Avito Holding of $50 million, as a result of which, after combining the bulletin boards, the South African holding will receive 18.6% of Avito Holding. According to ComScore, cited by Kommersant, in January 2013, Avito.ru was the most visited Russian free ad service with a monthly audience of 16.5 million unique users, Slando.ru - the second with an audience of 10.9 million, OLX.ru - the fifth with 4 million unique visitors.

Naspers are owned by other members of the merger: the South Africans acquired 100% of Slando Ltd for $29 million in 2011, and in 2010 invested from $20 to 40 million in OLX Inc. The main Russian asset of Naspers is a 29% stake in the Mail.ru Group.
