ROSATOM combines commercial activities in its work, ensuring the development of nuclear power and nuclear fuel cycle enterprises, and the fulfillment of the functions assigned to it by the state - ensuring national security (nuclear deterrence), nuclear and radiation safety, as well as the development of applied and fundamental science. In addition, the State Corporation is authorized on behalf of the Russian Federation to fulfill Russia's international obligations in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy and the non-proliferation regime of nuclear materials.

The Russian nuclear industry is building modern foreign projects according to the "build-own-manage" scheme. From the technical development of the sketch to the moment of its future disposal, including maintenance, spare parts, modernization and extension of operational terms. Each of these stages is extremely difficult in itself, and the "supply" of fuel is completely available only to a few companies in the world.

Aktivs

At the beginning of 2019, the company includes more than 350 enterprises and organizations, including:

Rosatom produces its own nuclear fuel, builds innovative reactors and nuclear power plants around the world.

ROSATOM is the largest generating company in Russia, which provides more than 40% of electricity in the European part of the country. Rosatom occupies a leading position in the global nuclear technology market, occupying:

  • 1 place in the world in terms of the number of simultaneously built nuclear power plants abroad;
  • 2 in the world in terms of uranium reserves and 5 in the world in terms of its production;
  • 4 in the world for the generation of atomic electricity, providing 40% of the global market for uranium enrichment services and 17% of the nuclear fuel market.

In 2019, Rosatom is building factories for the production of PAN-precursor, which allows you to create carbon fiber based on your own raw materials. It opens production facilities in a number of countries for the processing of lithium, which is necessary in the manufacture of batteries for computers, tablets and smartphones, and the scope of activity of the Russian state corporation is actively expanding to hydropower and wind generation, nuclear medicine and the construction of centers of science, equipment for gas and oil technology and thermal power and composite materials[1]

Performance indicators

2024: Budget for investments - 1.5 trillion rubles

Rosatom's investment budget for 2024 is 1.5 trillion. rubles The head of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev announced this during a meeting with the president Russia Vladimir Putin in mid-October 2024.

According to Likhachev, the corporation is increasing its contribution to the Russian economy: for the next ten years, the already formed volume of orders is 52 trillion rubles. The general director of Rosatom expressed confidence that in the process of implementing contracts this figure could reach 100 trillion rubles.

2023

Foreign revenue growth by 40% to $16 billion

ROSATOM State Corporation demonstrated significant revenue growth in international markets at the end of 2023. This became known in September 2024. According to a report published on the company's public reporting portal, revenue from foreign projects increased by 40% compared to 2022, exceeding the $16 billion mark.

According to TASS, by the end of 2023, the state corporation developed its activities in more than 60 countries of the world. Rosatom's portfolio of foreign orders for the next ten years reached $127.1 billion, which indicates a stable high demand for Russian nuclear technologies, including uranium enrichment services, supplies of uranium-containing products and transport services. Significant revenue growth was achieved due to the successful implementation of projects outside Russia, which confirms the company's strategic success in the global market.

Rosatom's revenue abroad by the end of the year increased by 40% and exceeded $16 billion

According to representatives of Rosatom, the achievement of such results is associated with an increase in the volume of supplies, an expansion of the contract portfolio and a strengthening of the company's position in countries where it already operates. In particular, services related to uranium enrichment and electricity supply, as well as services related to logistics and trading, made a significant contribution to the revenue.

Revenue from new products and services provided by Rosatom for non-industry counterparties also showed impressive growth. In 2023, it amounted to ₽1,1 trillion, which is 47% higher than the target. This increase was the result of the active expansion of the volume of products produced and the growth of transactions related to logistics and trading operations. The report also noted that overfulfilling of key indicators is associated with efficient use of resources and increased competitiveness of products in international markets.[1]

Revenue growth 2.3 times to 2.5 trillion rubles

In 2023, Rosatom raised 2.5 trillion rubles, which is 2.3 times more than five years earlier. Director General Alexei Likhachev announced this at the end of February 2024 at the government hour in the State Duma.

In 2023, Rosatom's revenue broke its all-time high. The previous record was dated 2022 - then the revenues of the state corporation were measured at 1.7 trillion rubles.

According to Likhachev, in 2023, Rosatom's revenue outside Russia also turned out to be a record, exceeding $16 billion, of which more than $12 billion in revenues came from friendly countries. The total investment of the state corporation in 2023 amounted to 1.2 trillion rubles, the head of Rosatom said.

As Kommersant writes on February 28, 2024, with reference to the early materials of Rosatom, in 2024 the investment program may amount to about 1.8 trillion rubles. For the next ten years, the company estimated its "atomic order" at 15 trillion rubles, of which 6 trillion rubles will be spent on the production of high-tech equipment.

According to Likhachev, until 2030, Rosatom plans to place orders for non-nuclear products (mechanical engineering, equipment, electrical equipment, metal products, tools, chemistry) inside Russia for at least 13 trillion rubles.

The head of Rosatom also said that the share of civilian products in the total volume of all enterprises of Rosatom defense industry in 2023 amounted to 52%. Likhachev stressed that the state corporation is not going to stop at this indicator and "plans to reach the range of 65-70% by 2030." Rosatom annually fulfills the state defense order by 100%, the general director of the state corporation added. By February 28, 2024, Rosatom's net profit for 2023 was not disclosed.[2]

2022

Record revenue - 1.7 trillion rubles

In 2022, Rosatom's revenue amounted to more than 1.7 trillion rubles, which was a new record for the corporation. Its general director Alexei Likhachev announced this at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the end of January 2023. In 2021, Rosatom raised about 1.5 trillion rubles.

File:Aquote1.png
We came in almost all directions, in our main, gross indicators to record results... Some positions have grown multiple, but still the fulfillment of the state defense order - 100%. And the total indicator of the fulfillment of our planned values is more than 105%, - said Likhachev, quoted by the press service of the cabin.
File:Aquote2.png

Rosatom in 2022 received record revenue

Likhachev, in a conversation with Mishustin, added that in the past year and a half, the state corporation has been working in "new conditions." According to him, thanks to the Ministry of Health, by the end of January 2023, Rosatom has a whole order for the production of medical accelerators, radiation therapy plants. In the last days of 2022, they entered medical institutions directly, the head of Rosatom emphasized.

In general, he noted that the state corporation has about 16-17 developments of medical equipment. All of them are absolutely competitive in their parameters, but were not in full demand, since the import market pushed them a little, Likhachev said.

Abroad, by the end of January 2023, 23 power units are under construction. The only country where the project has been stopped is Finland, Likhachev noted. According to him, Rosatom disputes the decision of the Finnish authorities in court in order to at least return the funds spent. The general director of Rosatom cited an example of an existing precedent: the state corporation received over €600 million for stopping the Bulgarian Belene project by decision of international arbitration.[3]

Export increase by 15%

In 2022, Rosatom's exports exceeded $10 billion, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. The general director of the state corporation Alexei Likhachev spoke about this at the end of December 2022.

Monthly revenues from nuclear technology exports
File:Aquote1.png
Foreign revenue is growing from year to year. This [2022] year we will overcome a psychologically important barrier in the supply of our products abroad in the amount of $10 billion, "Likhachev said in a conversation with Izvestia.
File:Aquote2.png

The head of Rosatom predicted an increase in supplies abroad to $10 billion

According to him, 15% export growth is "far from the limit." Likhachev noted that by the end of 2022, Rosatom is implementing the construction of 23 nuclear facilities abroad. The state corporation also has contracts with foreign customers for the supply of fuel and enriched uranium products.

File:Aquote1.png
Somewhere work is ahead of schedule, for example, in the PRC, Turkey. Construction sites are unfolding somewhere - this is Egypt, Hungary. And in India and Bangladesh, we are already discussing new sites, "he said.
File:Aquote2.png

Alexey Likhachev noted that the company's portfolio of foreign orders for ten years ahead "is stable at the level of $200 billion" even in the current geopolitical situation, "which means that foreign revenue is growing from year to year."

In May, RAOS Project, which is part of Rosatom, lost its contract with the Finnish company Fennovoima for the construction of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant. The organization broke the contract on its own initiative, explaining that the operation in Ukraine "aggravated the risks for the project," and many supply chains were violated.

Rosatom has been feeling a negative impact for the past two to three years, the director said. At first, the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic had an impact - "not so much restrictions on movement as the complete destruction of global logistics and supply chains." Now the impact is associated with "the current situation, a huge number of restrictions, restrictions," he added.[4]

Investing more than 1 trillion rubles per year

In 2022, Rosatom invested more than 1 trillion rubles in its projects and technologies. This was announced on December 22, 2022 by the general director of the state corporation Alexei Likhachev.

According to him, investments have actually doubled over the past two years, and since 2007, they have grown 16 times. The head of Rosatom called the state corporation one of the most prominent investors in Russia.

Rosatom's investments in 2022 exceeded a trillion rubles

Earlier, Likhachev said that Rosatom's investment plan for construction in 2022 will exceed the level of 2021 by 70% and amount to 1.3 rubles.

File:Aquote1.png
Our investment programs multiply from year to year. We earn a lot of money, but the absolute majority of them invest again in development and, first of all, in construction projects, "Likhachev pointed out.
File:Aquote2.png

In early October 2022, TASS, citing the press service of Rosatom, reported that over 10 years the volume of investments of the state corporation in construction had grown sixfold. In 2022, it was 10 years since the creation of a modern project management system for the creation of nuclear power facilities in Russia and abroad, the company explained to the agency the importance of dynamics. In 2021, the corporation invested 601 billion rubles in the construction.

In the annual report for 2021, Rosatom does not disclose the size of the investment program, noting only that Rosenergoatom (manager of Russian Rosatom nuclear power plants) fulfilled the investment program in 2021 by 105.5%.

In December 2022, Rosatom announced the following performance indicators:

  • The revenue of the state corporation in the open part (without defense industry) in 2022 increased 4.7 times and amounted to 1.7 trillion rubles;
  • The state defense order in 2022 was 100% completed, despite a significant increase in its volume.
  • The production of nuclear power plants and wind farms of Rosatom will amount to at least 225 billion kWh in 2022.
  • The record production of nuclear power plants is almost 223.3 billion kWh, which is 900 million kWh more than in 2021, the installed capacity utilization rate (KIUM) is also a record - 86,2%.[5]

2020

Combined revenue of Rosatom - 13,585,054 thousand rubles

At the end of 2020, Rosatom increased revenue by 41% to 13,585,054 thousand rubles. The data includes the combined revenue of two insourcing companies of Rosatom with the following turnover for 2020: JSC Greenatom (11,023,518 thousand rubles), JSC Consist - Telecom Operator (2,561,536 thousand rubles). In the TAdviser ranking "The largest IT-insourcing companies in Russia," Rosatom took fourth place. In 2019, the same figure was 9,616,308 thousand rubles.

Rosatom's foreign revenue reached $7.5 billion (+ 3 %)

In 2020, Rosatom's revenue from sales outside Russia reached $7.5 billion, which is 3% more than a year earlier. This is stated in the annual reporting of the state corporation.

According to Interfax with reference to this document, Rosatom's portfolio of nuclear power plants abroad as of the end of 2020 amounted to 36 power units, taking into account the Belarusian NPP power unit No. 1 introduced in 2020. During the year, work was carried out at sites in 9 countries for the construction of 25 power units. The total portfolio of foreign orders for the 10-year period by the end of December 2020 amounted to $138.3 billion against $140.1 billion a year earlier.

In 2020, Rosatom's revenue from sales outside Russia reached $7.5 billion, which is 3% more than a year earlier

The head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said earlier that the state corporation by 2030 expects to increase the share of revenue from the implementation of projects abroad to 60% in total revenue.

The new strategy of Rosatom provides for the growth of revenue of the state corporation by 2030 in dollar terms three times, up to $49-50 billion or up to 4 trillion rubles in ruble terms. At the same time, the share of new products in revenue should reach 40%, foreign revenue - exceed 50%.

The growth of electricity production at nuclear power plants and revenue relative to the planned indicators in 2020 is primarily associated with the optimization for 130 days of the total duration of repair campaigns, which made it possible to receive an additional 2.4 billion kWh, as well as with the transition of power unit No. 6 of the Novovoronezh NPP from a 12-month to 18-month fuel (inter-repair) cycle. In addition, in May 2020, a floating nuclear thermal power plant (PATPP) in Chukotka was put into operation, and in October a new power unit No. 6 of the Leningrad NPP with a VVER-120 reactor was connected to the country's unified energy system, the press service of Rosatom reports[6]

2017-2018

In 2018, 67% of the total global nuclear power plant construction market was implemented by Moscow.

By 2017, Rosatom's 10-year portfolio of foreign orders amounted to $133.6 billion. By the end of 2018, the company signed foreign contracts for another 26 billion, at the same time becoming the undisputed market leader in the number of simultaneously implemented nuclear reactor projects.

{{quote 'Ensuring information security of the nuclear industry is an absolute priority of our work. That is why we accumulate a lot of experience and significant expertise on how exactly this process can be built from the point of view of the technologies used. The signed agreement is an important stage in the development of cyberimmune approaches both within the nuclear industry and beyond. We are open to cooperation for the implementation of the most effective practices, we consider this agreement as one of the steps towards interaction with a large circle of market participants, "said Evgeny Abakumov, Information Technology Director of Rosatom State Corporation. }}

File:Aquote1.png
The idea of cyberimmunicity is to create IT systems that have the properties of trust and security due to a stable architecture. The vast majority of cyber attacks on such systems are ineffective and cannot affect the performance of their main functions. The most reliable way to implement such an architecture is to lay the appropriate requirements at the design stage. We have created a strong team that develops cyber immune products, and are happy to join forces with large industrial enterprises in the country, "comments Andrey Dukhvalov, Head of Advanced Technologies at Kaspersky Lab.

In October 2012, it became known that the total volume of contracts of the state corporation Rosatom"" is about 69 billion dollars for the next ten years. As Rogozin pointed out, as of January 1, 2012, the volume of contracts reached $50.2 billion.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that in previous years Rosatom performed "and even exceeded" efficiency indicators. In 2012, as Rogozin pointed out, the state defense order of the corporation has already been actually completed one hundred percent.

2007: Creation of Rosatom

In 2007, the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy quietly and imperceptibly created an unknown specialized company. Unlike private foreign corporations, Rosatom has been and remains a vertically integrated state-owned company. This is largely why, after a few years, the conglomerate managed the facilities of the Russian nuclear industry at all stages of the nuclear cycle.

Unlike the Western strictly capitalist model of doing business, entirely based on a private profit-making scheme, the business strategy of a Russian company was developed based on the goals of the country itself. In other words, the tasks for the civil sector of the Russian industry are approved by the president and the government, and even if they are unprofitable financially, but important for Russia's plans, they will be implemented no matter what. Western private sector competitors are not able to do anything like this, with the exception of the PRC that copied this approach.
