History
2025: UAE and Saudi production launch
The Future Laboratory has begun production of civilian unmanned aircraft systems in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. This was reported in the press service of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) on December 5, 2025.
Ilya Shevelev, deputy director of the Laboratory of the Future, said that the company is increasing its strategic presence in the Middle East. The goal is not just one-time deliveries, but the formation of a long-term partnership and the creation of a full-fledged ecosystem for unmanned technologies in the region.
The centers will train drone operators and deal with the serial production of light and medium drones. Training specialists on the spot will provide qualified personnel with a growing regional market for unmanned technologies. Local production reduces logistics costs and shortens delivery times for customers.
A showroom has been opened in the centers, which presents a modern drone showcase. Partners of the company can evaluate the capabilities of unmanned technologies and get acquainted with the current product line. Demonstration of working samples helps potential customers to decide on the purchase of equipment.
A sales office has been opened to conclude contracts and export deliveries of unmanned aircraft systems. Having a local office makes it easier to negotiate with customers in the region. The company can respond quickly to customer requests and provide technical support.
Ilya Shevelev noted that the creation of a comprehensive center is not only an important step towards the development of global markets and the promotion of Russian technologies on the world stage, but also a path to the creation of a full-fledged turn-key drone industry in the Middle East. The format of the comprehensive center combines all stages - from personnel training to serial production and after-sales service.[1]
2017: Creation of a device to diagnose transmission lines in Saudi Arabia
The Laboratory of the Future has created a device for remote monitoring of the state of the cable transmission lines. A special platform connects to the overhead power line wire, is charged from it, and performs diagnostic and small repair procedures while driving. The drone, the second component of the complex, is used for transportation - it installs the platform on the air line and removes it from it. The system was tested near Volgograd and was presented in Irkutsk. The device is scheduled to enter the Russian and world markets in 2018.
In the fall of 2017, a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation's IT cluster, Laboratory of the Future, entered into a cooperation agreement with Yaamal Group from Saudi Arabia.
